    • A combustion device for outdoor flame heaters includes an improved structure of a burner disposed below a glass tube thereof. The burner has a gas distribution room therein and a plurality of flame holes at a top surface thereof communicating with the gas distribution room and directed towards the glass tube. The flame holes have a diameter which is at least 10 mm for the flame to be in red and yellow, and a piece of metal wire mesh with a sieve size between 20-30 mesh abuts thereto from under in the gas distribution room, so as to construct a structure with a relatively greater diameter above and a relatively lesser diameter below for the flame to be emitted from the glass tube at an appropriate height by chimney effect to enhance the heating effects.

    • A Patio Heater Double Dome Infrared Heat Reflector/Converter is disclosed. The patio heater dome attachment is attachable to a conventional patio heater so that the dome attachment covers the heater's heat shield, while maintaining an air gap therebetween. There are preferably standoff ridges or other features built into the dome attachment to maintain this air gap and to prevent air from flowing freely between the heat shield and the dome attachment. The dome attachment embodies a very low heat load so that very little heat conduction occurs between the heat shield and the dome attachment, such that more of the heater's energy is reflected towards the usage area. Finally, the perimeter edge of the dome attachment extends downwardly at least until it is essentially horizontally planar with the perimeter edge of the patio heater heat shield.

    • A heating apparatus is provided that is optimized in terms of its heating efficiencies and wind proofing against flame out. The heating apparatus includes a heating head and a burner assembly for igniting fuel from a fuel source. The heating head has a dual-walled construction to form several flue chambers with the inner wall preferably being insulated to maximize heat transfer to the outer wall from combustion gases flowing through the flue chambers. The flue chambers can also be formed to be substantially isolated from each other and configured to generate turbulent gas flow therein for maximum heat transfer to the outer wall.

    • A miniature patio heater is provided which has a total height of approximately 3 ft. and which has a shroud with a diameter less than 2 ft. The patio heater includes a base having a vertically extending chamber, which is approximately 1.5 ft. high, for receiving a small gas bottle. A hollow post extends upwardly from the upper end of the chamber. A heater assembly and shroud are supported at the upper end of the post. A gas line extends along the inside of the hollow post between the heater assembly and the chamber. A connector assembly provides a pivotal connection between the end of the gas line and a regulator connected to a gas bottle within the chamber. The chamber is provided with an access opening for inserting and removing the gas bottle. Thus, the gas bottle, with attached regulator, can be swung from a vertical upright position within the chamber outwardly through the access opening to an angular position to facilitate removal of an empty gas bottle and replacement with a full gas bottle. The full gas bottle can then be swung from the angular position to a vertical upright position within the chamber. A removable cover can be provided over the access opening.

    • A patio umbrella that includes a dining table and a fuel-burning radiant heater avoids overheating of the upper canopy by mounting the support on which the upper canopy rests in the shadow cast by a reflector that converges upwardly to a chimney portion. The reflector is affixed to the housing of the combustion chamber. In addition to reflecting radiant heat downwardly onto the table and the diners, the reflector shields the upper canopy support from radiant heat and provides a duct for venting the products of combustion. As the latter pass up through the chimney portion, cooler air is drawn up through the space between the reflector and the upper canopy support thereby preventing hot air from stagnating there. The upper canopy support is mounted to the reflector and spaced above it by a number of insulative ceramic spacers. Brackets affixed to the reflector extend outwardly of the pivotal attachment of the ribs of the umbrella, thereby permitting the ribs to clear the combustion chamber and at the same time shortening the ribs so that when the umbrella is closed the lower ends of the ribs are well above the table top so as not to intrude into the space used for serving food. A safety switch, mounted within the column that supports the heater, extinguishes the heater as the umbrella is closed.
