One form of thermal expansion system (86) may include a venturi device (88) which allows the accumulation of water which expands during the heating process and then returns the water to the flow of water during a brew cycle.

The pipe member include a cold water intake pipe at a first end and a warm water outflow pipe at a second end dedicated and adapted to send warm water to a water heater. A cover member adapted to cover the heating element and the coiled pipe member includes at least one opening therethrough adapted to allow air to pass through and circulate around the heating element and the coiled pipe member and create a convection effect capable of adding additional heat to the water while passing through the coiled pipe member.

摘要： This invention relates to domestic heat and power systems that allow efficient methods of operating a domestic combined heat and power (dchp) unit and to energy-efficient methods of scheduling domestic appliance operation within a household having a dchp unit. Dchp units provide heating and hot water for the home and also generate electricity for use in the home. A domestic heat and power system is provided that comprises a dchp unit, a dchp unit controller, a programmer module and an energy scheduler linked to allow communication therebetween, wherein the programmer module receives data input and generates a heating and/or hot water schedule therefrom, the dchp unit controller determines operating times of the dchp unit in accordance with the schedule and provides the operating times to the energy scheduler that then operates the domestic appliance during operating times.

摘要： Methods and apparatus are provided for establishing and controlling the stability and movement of a reaction wave of reacting gases in a matrix of solid heat-resistant matter, wherein such reacting gases may be recuperatively pre-heated. At least a portion of the bed is initially preheated above the autoignition temperature of the mixture whereby the mixture reacts upon being introduced into the matrix thereby initiating a self-sustaining reaction region, after which the pre-heating can be terminated. The stability and movement of the wave within the matrix is maintained by monitoring the temperatures along the flowpath of the gases through the bed and adjusting the flow of the gases and/or vapors or air to maintain and stabilize the wave in the bed. The method and apparatus provide for the reaction or combustion of gases to minimize NO.sub.x and undesired products of incomplete combustion. A recuperative heat exchange system is used to preheat the reactants with heat generated by the reaction by channeling hot exhaust gases through the matrix surrounding reactant inlet tubes.

摘要： A fluidized bed combustion system particularly suited for use in a residential or light industrial heating system comprising a fluidized bed combustor housing a combustion chamber wherein fuel is burned to generate hot flue gas, a heat exchanger disposed inside of the combustion chamber, a particulate collector for removing fine particles entrained in the flue gas before the flue gas is vented to the atmosphere, and a fan for supplying air into the combustion chamber. The combustor features an insulated non-adiabatic combustion chamber with a cooling and heat exchange in the combustion zone and in the free-board area above the combustion zone. Electric heating means are disposed within the fluidizing region of the combuston chamber to provide the capability of heating the slumped bed during shut down to maintain bed temperature above the ignition point. The electric heating means is comprised of rod-shaped electrical resistance heating elements of a commercially available type protruding through the distributor plate into the fluidized bed at a specific inclined position. The control circuitry of the heating elements maintains their surface temperature at a level below about 900.degree. C., preferably below about 750.degree. C. The invention increases operation life of the heating elements by reducing their wear due to corrosion and erosion.

摘要： An apparatus for providing, in a continuous or intermittent manner, a superheated vapor of an organic liquid, such as methylene chloride, for reflowing plastic surfaces or causing a plastic material to flow onto a surface to create a film or coating thereon. The apparatus includes a tubular metal member defining a flow passage for both the liquid and gaseous phases of the liquid being vaporized. A vapor flow control member having a vapor flow orifice is provided at one end of the tubular member while the other end of the tubular member communicates with a source of organic liquid under pressure through an on-off valve. A source of electrical energy is connected in circuit with the tubular member through a switch operated concurrently with the valve whereby electrical current is caused to flow through the tubular member to heat the member to a temperature adequate to vaporize the liquid flowing therethrough. The tubular member is electrically and thermally insulated by a shield and a handle associated with the shield contains the valve and switch.
