    • A document handling system includes an imaging area; a light source located in proximity to the imaging area; a raster imaging scanning system located in proximity to the imaging area; and a looped document path, located in proximity to the imaging area, having an entrance and an exit. The exit of the looped document path is positioned such that an exiting document is placed upon the imaging area a second time. Alternatively, the document handling system includes a semicircular document path, located in proximity to a first imaging area, having an entrance and an exit; and a second imaging area located in proximity to the exit of the semicircular document path. A bidirectional fiber optic element is located between the first and second imaging areas to transmit light from the light source to the second imaging area and light reflected from the second imaging area to the first imaging area.

    • An image-capturing device including a body, an optical module and an upper cover is provided. The body has an upper surface and a first inclined plane, wherein the upper surface has an image-capturing area, and the first inclined plane is connected and located adjacent to the upper surface. The optical module is movably disposed in the body and is for capturing an image of a document inside the image-capturing area. The upper cover has a lower surface and a second inclined plane, wherein the second inclined plane is connected and located adjacent to the lower surface. When the upper cover is closed upon the body, the second inclined plane is placed atop the first inclined plane. The included angle between the second inclined plane and the lower surface is at least equal to the included angle between the first inclined plane and the upper surface and less than 180 degrees.

    • According to one embodiment, an image processing apparatus includes a document table, a document feeder, an opening sensor, an image reading unit, an operation unit, a first memory, a second memory, and a control unit. An original is placed on the document table. The document feeder can open and close an upper part of the document table and conveys the original. The opening sensor detects whether the document feeder opens the document table. The operation unit receives the input of information indicating processing content for the image data. The first memory stores first configuration. The second memory stores second configuration corresponding to the information input to the operation unit. The control unit changes, if the opening sensor detects the opening of the document table, the second configuration stored in the second memory to the first configuration.
