摘要： An image forming apparatus, including an image forming unit to form an image on a recording medium, includes a storage unit storing the recording medium and disposed to be drawable toward a front side of the image forming apparatus, a first stacking unit, an image reading unit disposed at an image forming apparatus upper portion, a document stacking unit disposed above the first stacking unit and at an image reading unit front side, and a second stacking unit. The first stacking unit stacks the recording medium having the image and which is discharged toward the front side. The image reading unit reads an image formed on a document having the image formed thereon in advance. The document stacking unit stacks the document. The second stacking unit stacks the document having the image read by the image reading unit and which is discharged toward an image reading unit back side.

A printing apparatus control method includes printing, by a printing unit, an image including an object on a sheet; reading, by a reading unit, the image on the sheet on which the image including the object is printed; generating first image data according to the reading of the image by the reading unit; determining an area to detect a position of the object from second image data generated based on the generated first image data having resolution lower than that of the second image data; detecting the position of the object from the determined area; obtaining a print position based on the position of the object detected by the detecting unit; and controlling, based on the obtained print position, the printing unit to print the image on the sheet.

In a case where the number of second images acquired is smaller than the number of first images acquired, the image processing apparatus determines a sequence of the plurality of first images and the one or the plurality of second images such that sequential numbers of the one or the plurality of second images are differently set depending on whether an interrupting factor has arisen.

The image forming device includes: a buffer unit that, while a first recording sheet resides in the post-processing unit for the post-processing, holds a second recording sheet therein, the second recording sheet output from the printer unit subsequent to the first recording sheet; and a reverse path that reverses recording sheets when the image forming device performs duplex printing. In a plan view of the image forming device taken along a vertical direction, the post-processing unit, the buffer unit, and the reverse path at least partially cover one another.
