摘要： A conveying roller has a rotary shaft portion, a roller supporting member, and a roller member. The rotary shaft portion is extendable/contractible. The roller supporting member has an interior space. The roller member is supported on the outer circumferential surface of the roller supporting member. The rotary shaft portion includes first and second shafts. The first shaft has one end part inserted into the interior space, and is movable axially relative to a first side surface. The first shaft has a regulating portion displaceable between a permitting position where the regulating portion permits the movement of the first shaft in the insertion direction relative to the roller supporting member without interfering with a rim of an opening and a restricting position where the regulating portion restricts the movement of the first shaft in the insertion direction relative to the roller supporting member by interfering with the rim.

摘要： A sheet feeding unit that can be incorporated in an image forming apparatus includes an endless belt and a charging member. The charging member may charge the endless belt with an alternating voltage to attract a sheet to separate from multiple sheets and feed the sheet, and may have an electrode contacting the endless belt at an angle thereto and between which a nip is formed. The endless belt and an interior surface of the charging member may define a space across which electric discharge is performed to charge an outer layer of the endless belt. A distance of the gap and a length of the nip in the sheet conveyance direction may define a basic charging region. The distance of the basic charging region may be smaller than a distance of a unit charging region where the electric charge of identical polarity is held on the endless belt.

The sheet tray is detachably attachable to the image forming apparatus in a sheet feeding direction and includes a tray portion, a detachable cover member provided apart from the tray portion with a gap interposed therebetween through which the sheet passes in an engaged state in which the tray portion and the cover member are engaged with each other, a lock assembly that engages the tray portion and the cover member with each other in the engaged state and disengages the cover member and the tray portion from each other in a disengaged state, and a switching mechanism that puts the lock assembly into the engaged state in absence of the sheet within the gap and into the disengaged state at presence of the sheet within the gap.
