    • Total power consumption of information-processing devices and power supply/cooling facilities is reduced to realize energy saving operation of information-processing system. The information-processing system includes information-processing devices, power supply facilities, cooling facilities and an operations management device. The operations management device is connected to the devices and the facilities and includes layout information constituted of locations and operating information of the devices and locations and environmental information of the facilities. Also, the operations management device obtains the power consumption of the devices, the power supply loss of the power supply facilities and the cooling power of the cooling facilities by using the layout information, and then allocates the workloads to the devices so as to reduce the total sum of power consumption, supply loss and cooling power.

    • An automation operating and management system consolidates and analyzes inputs from multiple machines within an automated enterprise to predict failures and provide instructions for counteractions to prevent failures during machine operation, and to identify opportunities for efficiency improvement, including actions for reduction in peak power consumption demand within a facility including multiple machines. A machine can include a machine controller and at least one base layer controller, where the base layer controller acts as a low level controller to directly control the motion of elements in communication with the base layer control, according to parameters set by the machine controller. The base layer controller collects timing data for the elements under its control, compares the timing data with the parameters and sets an alarm when the timing data is outside of tolerance limits defined by the parameters.

    • A power management system includes an electronic apparatus including a notification unit, a recording unit, a switching unit, and a transmitting unit, a management apparatus including an apparatus control unit, and a relay apparatus relaying communication between the apparatuses. In the first mode, the notification unit notifies the management apparatus of the state of the electronic apparatus at predetermined timings or according to a change in the state. In the second mode, the recording unit records the state instead of transmitting the notification. The switching unit switches the control mode in response to an instruction from the management apparatus. Upon switching from the first mode to the second mode, the transmitting unit transmits switching information to the management apparatus. Upon reception of the switching information, the apparatus control unit switches the control mode of the relay apparatus so as to reduce the power consumption of the relay apparatus.
