摘要： Techniques are described herein for a graph-organized file system (GOFS) implemented by an operating system of a computing system. A GOFS represents a data graph with graph components comprising a plurality of nodes and one or more relationships between the nodes. Each node of the graph may be associated with content (of any kind) and/or relationships (of any kind) between the node and other nodes in the graph. Data for a GOFS is stored in a GOFS partition in persistent storage. In the GOFS partition, nodes are represented using “gnode” data structures (also referred to herein as “gnodes”), each of which comprises a content field for node content data and an edge field for edge data representing relationships between nodes. According to various embodiments, a GOFS partition includes dedicated space for each of: a superblock, graph metadata, a block bitmap, a gnode bitmap, a gnode table, and data blocks.

An example system can include a first server hosting a relational database and a second server coupled to the first server. The second server can be configured to assign a quantity of unique identifiers of a table of the relational database to each of a plurality of groups, perform a first transfer operation to transfer data corresponding to a first one of the plurality of groups via a first core of processing resources of the first server, and perform a second transfer operation to transfer data corresponding to a second one of the plurality of groups via a second core of the processing resources of the first server. In accordance with one aspect of the invention, filters are provided for manipulating the items. The filters are essentially tools for narrowing down a set of items. In one embodiment, the filters are dynamically generated based on the properties of the separate items. The system utilizes virtual folders. The virtual folders expose regular files and folders to users in different views based on their metadata instead of the actual physical underlying file system structure on the disk. In accordance with another aspect of the invention, quick links are provided. In one embodiment, quick links are a set of predefined links (e.g., located on the left side of the display) that can be clicked on to generate useful views of the sets of items. In accordance with another aspect of the invention, libraries are provided. Libraries consist of large groups of usable types of items that can be associated together.
