摘要： The present invention is directed to interactive training, and in particular, to methods and systems for computerized interactive skill training. An example embodiment provides a method and system for providing skill training using a computerized system. The computerized system receives a selection of a first training subject. Several related training components can be invoked, such as reading, watching, performing, and/or reviewing components. In addition, a scored challenge session is provided, wherein a training challenge is provided to a user via a terminal, optionally in video form.

An image-capturing device detects, from a worksheet comprising a position-identifying pattern, a first mark in a first region of the worksheet. The first mark is in a first indicator portion of the position-identifying pattern contained within a first indicator region that is associated with a first word. The image-capturing device detects a first note in a note region of the worksheet. Based on whether the first mark, the first note, or both indicates that the first word was read incorrectly or correctly, a processor determines a first reading assessment result for the first word and stores, in a memory, a digital document file comprising the first reading assessment result.

In preferred embodiments, the game apparatus is comprised of a platform having a surface and a print medium having print elements corresponding to a game, wherein the print medium is capable of being received on the surface of the platform. By positioning the print medium on the platform, the game becomes interactive for the user. The platform includes an array of electrical elements under the surface which are coupled to a processor unit. The processor unit is coupled to a memory device having code which provides for the interactive gaming experience for the user.

摘要： A system and method for evaluating responses to broadcast programs, such as television programs, includes an instructional signal modulated onto a signal transmitted concurrently with the television program, or time-multiplexed with television signals. At each of a plurality of remote receiving stations, one or more members of a remote audience has the opportunity to respond to a task or situation presented in the television program by entering a response vocally or on a keyboard. The system may include a video game machine suitable for playing commercially available games such as an NINTENDO game or a SEGA game, and wherein such game may be played back from a recording. The system includes response evaluation circuitry, a memory responsive to the instructional signal for storing acceptable responses, a comparison circuit for comparing responses entered at the keyboard with those stored in the memory, circuitry for scoring responses in accordance with commands from the instructional signal, and a recording device for providing a permanent record of the audience score at the remote station. Electronic circuitry for evaluation and scoring purposes may be located at a remote station and/or a central location. Multiple players at a common game may be ranked in their performance, and games may be interrupted for a sponsor's message, and wherein a response to the message may serve as a basis for an enhanced score.

摘要： The present invention provides an electronic testing device for use in responding to questions of quizzes periodically provided in an educational text book. The testing device itself comprises a rectangular housing either permanently or removably affixed to the back cover of the book, an input section for entering selected answers corresponding to the questions, a logic section for comparing the selected answers with correct answers programmed into memory and an output section for providing immediate and enjoyable audio-visual feedback to the user. In a first embodiment of the present invention, the device comprises a small and compact rectangular housing adapted for permanent affixation or removable attachment to a protruded edge of the back cover of a specific educational book. Alternatively, the device may form a small, portable unit that can be detached from the book for use with quizzes of a plurality of different text books. In this alternative embodiment, the device includes an alphanumeric keypad in addition to an LCD display screen for entering and displaying both letter and number sequences which form the specific answer strings required by a particular quiz. The logic section comprises a programming mode for programming the correct answers of a plurality of quizzes contained in different text books and a testing mode for comparing the user selected answers with the correct answers of an identified quiz. The device may further comprise a data transfer mode for transferring the programmed data of one device to another device upon coupling of the two devices together so as to facilitate the use of the device by a large number of students.

摘要： An educational and entertainment device wherein a microcomputer is mounted in a housing to receive user generated data presented by moving a conducting stylus across perpendicular arrays of conductors on a work surface formed on the housing and presents information to the user via audio and visual devices. The conductors of each array are organized into first write groups formed of a plurality of interconnected conductors which can be placed in a selected electrical state by words written to the write groups and into read groups, read by the microcomputer, formed of a plurality of interconnected conductors interspersed with the conductors of the write groups. Additional, second write groups are interspersed with the first write groups and read groups. The arrays are alternatively mounted on the work surface or on a support member which can be detachably mounted on the work surface and connectors are provided for connecting the arrays on the support member to the microcomputer. The arrays are formed into a lamina by deforming arrays of wires with a die, injecting an insulating material in the interstices between the wires to form a lamina, and subsequently removing portions of the lamina adjacent the surface thereof.

The methods quantify the effectiveness of controlled variables of stimuli and of inducements associated therewith. The immediate impact and degree of erosion of the impact of stimuli on families and on individual household members are measured. Inducements can take the form of printouts, such as monetary coupons, dispensed in homes of broadcast audience members who have responded to a task. The system and method for evaluating responses to broadcast or telephone programs, such as television programs, includes an instructional signal, such as a signal modulated onto a signal transmitted concurrently with the television program, or time-multiplexed therewith. At each of a plurality of remote receiving stations, one or more members of an audience has the opportunity to respond to a situation presented in the program by entering a response or a selection on a keyboard. The system includes at each remote receiving station a memory responsive to the instructional signal for storing acceptable responses, and a comparison circuit for comparing responses entered at the keyboard with those stored in the memory. Also provided is electronic circuitry for scoring the responses in accordance with commands from the instructional signal, and a recording device for providing a permanent record. A prize-winning respondent can select a product from a listing and apply the value of a prize to the purchase price of the selected product.

摘要： An audio-visual interactive puzzle includes a rigid puzzle form defining a predetermined number of form cutouts, an upper graphic disposed on the form upper surface, and a plurality of respective removable puzzle pieces, each having a peripheral configuration conforming to that of an associated form cutout and bearing a piece graphic. A flexible membrane bears on the underside thereof a plurality of conductors in predetermined relative disposition, and a plurality of respective lower graphics overlie the flexible membrane and underlie the form cutouts. A spacer includes respective spacer cutouts generally corresponding to and disposed to underlie the form cutouts, and a conductive ground plane underlies the spacer cutouts. An electronic sound generator generates respective predetermined associated sounds in response to the input signals applied thereto. The flexible membrane conductors, spacer and ground plane cooperate to form a touchpad including a touchpoint corresponding to each of the lower graphics electrically connected to the sound generator, thereby to selectively effect generation of the input signals to the sound generator.

摘要： A system and method for evaluating responses to broadcast programs, such as televison programs, includes an instructional signal modulated onto a signal transmitted concurrently with the television program, or time-multiplexed with a television. At each of a plurality of remote receiving stations, one or more members of a remote audience has the opportunity to respond to a situation presented in the television program by entering a response on a keyboard. The system includes, at each remote receiving station, a memory responsive to the instructional signal for storing acceptable responses, and a comparison circuit for comparing responses entered at the keyboard with those stored in the memory. Also provided is electronic circuitry for scoring the responses in accordance with commands from the instructional signal, and a recording device for providing a permanent record of the audience score at each of the remote receiving stations. Scoring is performed at differing levels of difficulty, set by a host or by a contestant, with credit being given also for the length of time required for response. The mode of response includes the use of a key word or phrase. Alternatively, the program may be presented by a prerecorded message accessible by telephone from a remote station with regulation from a central station. A prize-winning respondent can select a product from a listing and apply the value of a prize to the purchase price of the selected product.
