    • There is provided a resistor in which a first resistive part of a resistive element that electrically conducts between a pair of electrodes formed on either end of an insulating substrate has a meandering pattern meandering on the substrate surface and a swelling pattern that has a form in which a part of the meandering pattern swells out from the stroke width of the meandering pattern, a second resistive part that is electrically connected in series to the first resistive part is shorter than the entire length of the first resistive part, and has a wider width than the stroke width of the meandering pattern, and a trimming groove is formed in at least either the swelling pattern or the second resistive part. This can improve resistance accuracy and provide a high voltage resistor with high withstand voltage property.

    • A resistor for driving a motor for an air conditioner blower is provided, in which internal resistance bodies are stacked over one after another between insulation plates in the resistor, to accordingly reduce the volume of the entire of the resistor is reduced, and the resistance bodies are separated into a plurality of metal thin plates not a single plate and stacked over one after another, to thereby increase a line width. The resistance bodies are formed of an independent resistance body forming a second resistance body and a third resistance body on two separate thin plates, and another independent resistance body forming a first resistance body on another thin plate. The resistor is formed of the resistance bodies of a stacking structure in which the resistor is divided into three or more to thereby form respective independent layers. Since the resistance bodies in the resistor are divided into a number of sheets, the line width of each resistance body in each thin plate becomes broad to thereby reduce the volume of the resistor as well as to enhance a durability. Also, a concentrative overheat can be prevented in a particular portion of the resistor, and a thermal emission is facilitated. Also, since a temperature fuse can be assembled externally from a thermal radiator, a resistor assembly structure can be simple.

    • The flat resistor comprises a stack of flat components including a first metal plate having assembly tabs bent, a first outer electrical insulator having alignment slots for receiving the tabs, a first sheet metal resistance element having slots for receiving the tabs with a clearance fit, a first inner electrical insulator having alignment slots for receiving the tabs, a metal midplate having oversize slots for receiving the tabs with a clearance fit, a second thin inner insulator having alignment slots for receiving the tabs, a second sheet metal resistance element having clearance slots for receiving the tabs, a second thin outer insulator having alignment slots for receiving the tabs, and a second metal outer plate having alignment slots for receiving the tabs, which are bent into engagement with the second plate for compressing the stack. The resistance elements have alignment tabs extending through alignment slots in the corresponding outer insulators and securely bent behind the insulators. The outer plates have clearance voids formed by outward embossments opposite the bent tabs. A thermal fuse is pressed by a wire spring against a V-shaped seat comprising lugs bent from the midplate at oppositely slanting angles. The wire spring is connected between the fuse and the lugs.

    • An improved power resistor includes a resistive element extending between a first electrical connection terminal and a second electrical connection terminal. The resistive element has a plurality of first insulating regions, arranged along its length extending generally parallel to each other in a first row. The resistive element further has a plurality of second insulating regions arranged generally parallel to each other in a second row. The first and second rows are further arranged generally parallel to each other so that each of the second insulating regions extends between two of the first insulating regions. The first and second insulating regions thereby define a tortuous current path from the first terminal to the second terminal. This tortuous path creates a current path between the terminals having increased resistance. The insulating regions are preferably interleaved chevrons and are preferably formed by stamping out portions of a resistive slab, made of steel or the like. The slab may be rolled or bent to form part of a resistor assembly.

    • A resistor grid assembly has a continuous resistor weave with a plurality of generally parallel, plate-like electrical elements. U-shaped bends join two adjacent elements at adjacent ends. The U-shaped bends are located in a bottom group and a top group. There is a top electrical insulating member adjacent the U-shaped bends in the top group and spaced from the U-shaped bends. There is a bottom electrical insulating member adjacent the U-shaped bends in the bottom group. Stop U-shaped pins having a pair of legs with a pair of shoulders are supported by the bottom electrical insulating member. The legs of each stop U-shaped pin extends into a pair of holes in the bottom group of U-shaped pins and rest upon the shoulders which are spaced from the insulator. Wire U-shaped pins are supported by the top electrical insulating member. The wire U-shaped pins have legs inserted into holes in the U-shaped bends in the top group. The U-shaped bends in the top group are spaced from the top insulator. When the resistor elements expand due to heat, the U-shaped bends in the top group move on the legs of the wire U-shaped pin toward the top insulating member. Expansion is controlled in a direction toward the top insulating member and the resistor U-shaped bend slides on the wire U-shaped pin.
