The system also includes a plurality of battery cell layers (106-112) disposed on a plurality of laterally spaced areas on the first and second surfaces (203, 209). In the system, portions of the battery cell layers on the first surface are in physical contact with portions of the battery cell layers on the second surface and the battery cell layers on the first surface and the second surface form a plurality of electrically interconnected battery cells (206, 212) on the first and the second surfaces that are laterally spaced apart and that define one or more batteries (200).

摘要： A bipolar battery plate is utilized for production of a bipolar battery. The bipolar battery plate includes a frame, a substrate, a conductor, a filler, first and second lead layers, and positive and negative active materials. The substrate is positioned within the frame and includes a plurality of perforations that are sealed by a filler, with the conductor positioned in the perforation and held by the filler. The conductor connects to the plurality of perforations. The first lead layer positioned on one side of the substrate, while the second lead layer positioned on another side of the substrate. The first and second lead layers electrically connected to each other through the filler. The positive active material (PAM) positioned on a surface of the first lead layer, while the negative active material (NAM) positioned on a surface of the second lead layer.

The PME separator includes a polyimide, at least one lithium salt in a concentration of at least 0.5 moles of lithium per mole of imide ring provided by the polyimide, and at least one solvent intermixed. The PME is generally homogeneous as evidenced by its high level of optically clarity. The battery can be a lithium ion or lithium metal battery.
