    • An electrical connector is provided for terminating a cable having a cable shield. The electrical connector includes an electrical contact configured to be terminated to an end of a wire of the cable, and a housing having a body that extends from a mating end to a cable end. The housing includes a connector shield. The electrical contact is held by the housing. The cable end includes a cable channel that is configured to hold an end segment of the cable therein such that the cable shield is electrically engaged with the connector shield. An electromagnetic interference (EMI) absorber is held within the cable channel such that the EMI absorber is configured to extend around the cable shield along at least a portion of a length of the cable channel. The EMI absorber is configured to absorb EMI emitted from the cable.

    • An exemplary connector insert assembly, and methods of manufacture and use thereof. In one embodiment, the connector insert assembly comprises an insert body assembly consisting of two insert body elements made from a high-temperature polymer. The insert body assembly includes an electronic component receiving cavity that is configured to receive any number of electronic components, including without limitation, chip chokes and wire wound electronic components. The insert body assembly includes a wire termination feature that includes termination slots that position the wire ends of the wire wound electronic components adjacent to a substrate to which the wire ends are ultimately to be secured. The wire ends are then secured to the substrate using, for example, a mass termination technique. The aforementioned connector insert assembly can then be inserted into a single or multi-port connector assembly. Methods of manufacturing the aforementioned single or multi-port connector assemblies are also disclosed.

    • An electrical connector includes a housing having a plug cavity configured to receive a modular plug therein. A terminal assembly is coupled to the housing. The terminal assembly has a plurality of terminals configured to engage corresponding terminals of the modular plug. The electronic connector includes a magnetic assembly that has a circuit board. The terminals are terminated to the circuit board. The magnetic assembly has magnetic circuits coupled to the circuit board. Each magnetic circuit has a ferrous portion and conductors circumferentially wrapped around the ferrous portion. At least one of the magnetic circuits is coated with a coating material that includes a matrix and filler. The filler can have a higher or lower dielectric constant than the matrix. The dielectric characteristics of the nano-composite can be tuned by varying the concentrations of the filler and matrix material. This tunable nano-composite can serve as an additional design knob for better impedance matching for the magnetic connectors over a wide frequency range.
