摘要： A multiport amplifier MPA is provided with an N-input input network, INET, an N-output output network, ONET, and N amplifiers interposed between the INET and the ONET, the MPA comprising N wanted signal paths and N.(N−1) null signal paths wherein N is divisible by 2, half of the N amplifier paths comprise a signal inversion with respect to the other half of the N amplifier paths, the INET and the ONET each comprise one or more quadrature hybrid couplers, QHC, wherein a pair of amplifier paths is arranged between the output of a first QHC in the INET and the input of a second QHC at the ONET, and each signal inversion is arranged in one of the amplifier paths of each pair of amplifier paths such that the ideal amplitude gain of at least one of the N.(N−i) null signal paths is zero.

摘要： A power amplifying converter comprises a multi-balanced-unbalanced converting unit, a plurality of power amplifying units, a plurality of dual-path power combining units and a differential power combining unit. The multi-balanced-unbalanced converting unit is provided with a first input/output end and a plurality of second input/output ends. Each of the power amplifying units is provided with a first input end electrically connected to the second input/output end, and a first output end. Each of the dual-path power combining units is provided with two second input ends electrically connected to the first output ends, and a second output end. The differential power combining unit is provided with two third input ends electrically connected to the second output ends, and a third output end. In this case, the multi-balanced-unbalanced converting unit is made up of a plurality of 1/12 wavelength transmission lines.

摘要： The isolated port of a 0/90 degree coupler is terminated by a novel complex termination impedance circuit having a reactance. The absolute value of the reactance is at least two ohms. The coupler receives a signal on its input port, and outputs a first signal on its first output port and a second signal on its second output port. A first load is coupled to the first output port without an intervening matching network. A substantial impedance mismatch exists between the first output port and the first load. A second load is coupled to the second output port without an intervening matching network. A substantial impedance mismatch exists between the second output port and the second load. Despite the substantial impedance mismatches, the first and second signals have a phase difference in a range of from 88 degrees to 92 degrees while exhibiting an amplitude imbalance less than 2 dB.

摘要： An unbalanced linear power amplifier (PA) is disclosed having a quadrature coupler with a 90° phase input port, a 0° phase input port, an output termination port, and a signal output port. Each of the 90° phase input port, the 0° phase input port, the output termination port, and the signal output port have a characteristic resistance (Ro). Also included is a first PA having an output coupled to a 90° phase input port of the quadrature coupler and a second PA having an output coupled to a 0° phase input port of the quadrature coupler. Biasing circuitry provides the first PA and the second PA with a similar gain. A tuning network is coupled between the output termination port and ground. The tuning network has an isolation resistance in series with an isolation inductance, wherein the isolation resistance is between about 0.02*Ro Ω and 0.8*Ro Ω.

摘要： Circuitry includes a balanced amplifier and bias adjustment circuitry. The bias adjustment circuitry is coupled to the balanced amplifier and is configured to measure an RF termination voltage across an output termination impedance of the balanced amplifier and adjust a bias voltage supplied to the balanced amplifier based on the RF termination voltage. Notably, the RF termination voltage is proportional to a voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) of the balanced amplifier, and thus enables an accurate measurement thereof. By using the RF termination voltage to adjust a bias voltage supplied to the balanced amplifier, overvoltage and/or thermally stressing conditions of the balanced amplifier as a result of high VSWR may be avoided while simultaneously avoiding the need for large or expensive isolation circuitry.

摘要： The disclosed embodiments relate to a retro-directive array that facilitates a tracking operation. This retro-directive array includes a first antenna configured to receive an input signal which is substantially circularly polarized from a tracking device. The first antenna separates the input signal into two signal components (e.g., Ex and Ey) associated with different orthogonal polarizations, wherein the two signal components comprise a quadrature signal wherein Ey=j·Ex. The retro-directive array also includes a bi-directional quadrature gain (BQG) module coupled to the first antenna which is configured to boost the quadrature signal. It additionally includes a second antenna which configured to transmit the boosted quadrature signal to the tracking device. The disclosed embodiments also relate to a transceiver switch, which includes: an input configured to receive a signal to be transmitted, and two phase mixers configured to receive the signal to be transmitted and phase inputs I and Q, and to produce a signal comprising two quadrature signal components SI and SQ, respectively, wherein SQ=j SI. The transmit switch also includes a hybrid coupler, which is configured to combine SI phase shifted by 180° with SQ phase shifted by 90° to produce a transmit output which is proportionate to S; and a switching mechanism configured to turn off the transmit output by swapping the phase inputs I and Q to the phase mixers.
