    • A cell processing method and device for a Switch Fabric (SF) chip are disclosed, which belong to the field of communications. The SF chip includes a unicast route table, which is multiplexed in two working modes and is looked up according to a unicast cell, and a multicast route table, which is multiplexed in the two working modes and is looked up according to a multicast cell. The cell processing method for an SF chip includes: the SF chip receives a cell and an input link number corresponding to the cell from an upstream apparatus and extracts a destination Identifier (ID) of the cell; the SF chip looks up a route table according to a working mode of the SF chip, the destination ID and the input link number to determine a first bitmap corresponding to the cell; and the SF chip performs load balancing on the first bitmap to obtain a second bitmap and outputs the cell to a downstream apparatus according to the second bitmap. With the technical solutions of the disclosure, the SF chip in a cascade switching system can adapt to different working modes.

    • Provided are a packet switch system in which an input module and an output module measure a buffer state and a packet delivery rate to control traffic, regardless of a size or a function of a switch fabric, and a traffic control method thereof. The packet switch system includes an input unit including a plurality of input modules, an output unit including a plurality of output modules, and a switch fabric including a plurality of switch components and configured to receive a packet delivered from the input unit and deliver the received packet to the output unit, wherein each of the input module includes: a plurality of virtual output queues (VOQs); and an access controller configured to selectively output packets stored in the plurality of VOQs in a weighted round robin (WRR) manner.

    • A network device implementing the subject system for end to end flow control may include at least one processor circuit that may be configured to detect that congestion is being experienced by at least one queue of a port and identify another network device that is transmitting downstream traffic being queued at the at least one queue of the port that is at least partially causing the congestion. The at least one processor circuit may be further configured to generate an end to end flow control message that comprises an identifier of the port, the end to end flow control message indicating that the downstream traffic should be flow controlled at the another network device. The at least one processor circuit may be further configured to transmit, out-of-band and through at least one intermediary network device, the end to end flow control message to the another network device.
