    • A prepaid messaging solution that utilizes a pre-delivery debit query to tariff a short message, coupled with an additional debit query performed once necessary billing information has been acquired. A short message is tariffed prior to message delivery via a pre-delivery debit query to a prepaid server. During message delivery, the prepaid server is queried a second time, following the HLR query performed by the Short Message Service Center (SMSC). This subsequent debit query bills a subscriber for any additional service fees discovered throughout message delivery, e.g., international/roaming fees, etc. If either the pre-delivery debit query or the subsequent debit query indicates that a subscriber has insufficient account balance to deliver a short message, the message is prevented from being delivered. If a message is dropped due to lack of account balance, any funds debited throughout the attempted message delivery may be credited back to the subscriber's prepaid account.

    • A method performed by a network system communicatively coupled to a device over a wireless network, the method comprising: receiving authentication information from the device over the wireless network, the authentication information enabling the network system to authenticate the device; obtaining a charging data record (CDR) comprising information identifying a device activity over the wireless network associated with the device and indicating a usage amount associated with the device activity; and using one or more rules, processing the CDR to generate information configured to assist in (a) providing to a partner entity an accounting of a first portion of usage of the wireless network associated with the device activity indicated by the CDR, the partner entity providing an Internet-based service to the device, and (b) determining an accounting of a second portion of the usage of the wireless network associated with the activity indicated by the CDR.

    • The present invention discloses a charging method for collecting charging information of data service and an apparatus thereof. The method comprises: receiving service data from a gateway service node; determining a protocol type of the received service data according to an IP port number of the service data; classifying the received service data according to the protocol type of the service data; distributing the classified service data to a plurality of protocol processing modules; at each of the plurality of protocol processing modules, extracting charging information of the classified service data, wherein the charging information comprises the protocol type of the service data; sending the charging information to a charging system for charging by a charging mode; and transmitting the respective classified service data transparently to a packet switched domain network. This invention can accurately collect the charging information of service data of various classes.

    • A method, wireless service node, and wireless communication system, are provided to manage wireless service usage and service node migration in the wireless communication system. A registration request from a wireless device (108) is received. A charging session associated with the wireless device (108) is established with a billing server (124). Wireless service usage is associated with the wireless device (108). The wireless device (108) is determined to be migrating to a new wireless service node (114). Information associated with the current charging session is transferred to the new wireless service node (114). Following the transfer, the service usage information pertaining to the same session is maintained and transferred by the new wireless service node to the billing server at appropriate time intervals and as per dynamic rules set in the billing server.
