    • An image reading apparatus includes an image reading section and a management section. The image reading section has a transport portion configured and arranged to transport a document by driving a motor, a reading portion configured and arranged to read each line of the document which is transported up to a predetermined position by the transport portion, and a holding portion configured and arranged to temporarily hold image data of the document read by the reading portion. The management section is configured and arranged to acquire and store the image data held in the holding portion and to manage the stored image data. The management section is configured and arranged to sequentially acquire and store the data held in the holding portion until driving is finished in a case where the motor starts the driving.

    • An image reading apparatus includes a reading part reading front and back sides of an original; a storage part storing the thus read images and plural processing parameters to be used for image processing; and an image processing part carrying out the image processing on the read images using the plural processing parameters. The image processing part analyzes an image transfer instruction that is an instruction to transmit the read image from the first storage part to the image processing part, and determines which of the processing parameters is to be used for the read image; and transfers the determined processing parameter by a direct memory access transfer method. The processing parameter concerning the read image is transferred from the first storage part to the image processing part by the direct memory access transfer method prior to the image processing of the read image by the image processing part.

    • An image capturing apparatus includes a housing, a processor module, a sheet feeder, an image capturing assembly, a display module and an operation interface. The image capturing assembly captures both of first and second images of a document sheet, past a scan region and transported by the sheet feeder, and produces first and second image data representative of the first and second images in either a single-sided or double-sided scanning mode. The display module displays representation images of the first and second images. The operation interface receives user input and outputs a selection signal comprising information of selecting at least one of the first and second images. The processor module processes at least one of the first and second image data into output image data according to the selection signal.

    • An image processing method includes storing image data in a storage unit; setting a common region in the storage unit, the common region including an input image data storage region and an output image data storage region; sequentially storing the image data that is compressed at a preset compression ratio in the input image data storage region; sequentially expanding the image data stored in the input image data storage region; temporarily storing the expanded image data in the output image data storage region; and controlling allocation of the input image data storage region and the output image data storage region in the common region. In an embodiment, the allocation of the input image data storage region and the output image data storage region in the common region may be determined depending on the compression ratio of the sequentially inputted image data.
