    • A flexible heat exchange jacket is provided which has channels for flow of a heat exchange fluid along one side, with inlets and outlets attached to a source of heat exchange fluid. The jacket can be attached in a watertight manner around the circumference of a cylindrical process container containing a liquid for heat treatment. Preferred embodiments include devices for heating and/or cooling the heat exchange fluid prior to entering the jacket, mixers for the liquid under treatment within the container, and heaters for the liquid within the container and/or the bottom of the container itself. A dairy pasteurizer version combines a cylindrical process container with a heat exchange jacket installed around its exterior with heating and refrigeration units for the heat exchange fluid, heat sensing and mixing devices, and a control system programmed to execute a pasteurization cycle.

    • A steamer in a steam circulation system can steam goods being transferred by a conveyor. A steam-jetting pipe is placed under the conveyor, a steam-sucking pipe is placed above the conveyor and an ejector condenser is placed on the way of primary steam heading for the steam-jetting pipe, provided the steam-sucking pipe is connected to the ejector condenser in order to feed back spent steam. A jet of fresh steam ascends in a walled room so as to steam goods on the conveyor and spent steam having increased humidity is sucked to return to the ejector condenser. Primary steam passing through the ejector condenser absorbs spent steam collected by the steam-sucking pipe so as to adjust the moisture content. Since spent steam is recovered and re-used, energy and consumption of primary steam are saved greatly, which can result in a wide cost reduction.

    • The horizontal axis continuous rotary cooker of the type having an outer shell and an outer spiral, inner shell and inner spiral and a rotatable wheel between the spiral is designed to accommodate two separate lines or rows of containers, such as cans, for steam cooking, sterilizing or processing. Both rows of containers are fed separately into the outer shell and are discharged from the outer shell. In one of the embodiments the row of containers processed in the outer shell are fed directly into the reel whereas those that traverse the inner shell roll down a ramp past the end of the reel. At the discharge end for the containers the outer row is discharged from the outer shell, whereas the inner row of containers is transferred to the outer shell and is discharged alongside of the outer row. In another embodiment, containers destined for the inner shell are first fed to the outer shell and make a transfer pass in the opposite direction from the major pass along the outer shell, whereupon this row of containers is fed to the inner shell. In another embodiment the inner shell is separately rotated at a differential speed relative to the reel, to vary the processing time for the containers on the inner shell as compared to those on the outer shell.
