摘要： A delivery vehicle operates on a two-dimensional rail system with rails extending in a first direction and a second direction. The second direction is perpendicular to the first direction. The delivery vehicle includes a vehicle body; two sets of wheels connected to the vehicle body for engagement with the underlying rail system and for moving the delivery vehicle in the first and second directions; a container carrier for supporting a container from below, wherein the container carrier comprises a first conveyor; a conveyor drive shaft for driving the first conveyor; and at least one drive coupling. The at least one drive coupling includes a connection interface accessible from an outer side portion of the vehicle body. The drive coupling is rotatably connected to a motor drive shaft such that when the motor drive shaft is rotated the drive coupling and the connection interface are rotated.

摘要： A direction switching module for lift robots using a pair of pinions coupled to a rack for propelling vertically and horizontally according to the track's orientation, is disclosed. In a linear motion mode both pinions rotate in the same velocity. In a direction switching mode, when changing from vertical to horizontal motion mode and vise versa, the module is capable of propelling one pinion on a vertical track and its counterpart on a horizontal track, simultaneously, each pinion in a different velocity. A bogie propelled by two pairs of said module is also disclosed, and a controller configured to drive both pinions in same velocity during linear motion and each pinion in a separate appropriate velocity during the direction switching mode. A method for turning a pinion-driven lift-robot in an intersection of rails and a controller for controlling the linear motion modes and the direction switching modes of the lift robot are also disclosed.

Each container handling vehicle comprises a protruding section which extends horizontally beyond the footprint of the container handling vehicle and, when the container handling vehicle is positioned above a grid cell, into a neighbouring grid cell.
The present invention also relates to a container handling vehicle for such an automated storage and retrieval system.

摘要： An automated cryogenic storage system includes a freezer and an automation system to provide automated transfer of samples to and from the freezer. The freezer includes a bearing and a drive shaft though the freezer, the drive shaft being coupled to a rack carrier inside the freezer and adapted to be coupled to a motor. The automation module includes a rack puller that is automatically positioned above an access port of the freezer. The rack puller engages with a sample rack within the freezer, and elevates the rack into an insulating sleeve external to the freezer. From the insulating sleeve, samples can be added to and removed from the sample rack before it is returned to the freezer.

摘要： A storage system includes a storage grid structure having a top rail grid upon which container handling vehicles work to store and retrieve storage containers in and from storage columns beneath the top rail grid.
