摘要： A vial for packing a substance to be smoked from the vial and a method of manufacturing the vial, the method of manufacturing including providing a glass vial, the glass vial having a first end portion and a second end portion connected by a tubular portion having a hollow interior, the first end portion being open and the second end portion being closed; applying heat to a section of the tubular portion to heat the section of the tubular portion; applying a pressure around the heated section of the tubular portion to collapse the section of the tubular portion into the hollow interior of the tubular portion; pressing the first end portion and the second end portion together until an exterior surface of the tubular portion surrounding the collapsed section is level with a remaining exterior surface of the tubular portion; and forming an opening in the second end portion.

摘要： A method and apparatus is provided for producing a hollow glass body product including a hollow glass body having an outer surface with a first end portion and a second end portion, the first end portion being sealed by a first bottom and the second end portion being sealed by a second bottom. A plurality of spaced apart filamentary defects are provided in the outer surface and at least part of the filamentary defects form open passages connecting an interior of the hollow glass body to the outer surface thereof. Each individual passage has a diameter in the micrometer range between more than 0 micrometers and less than 50 micrometers. A plurality of the micrometer range-sized open passages provides a total cross-sectional area sufficiently large for venting and/or pressure equalization.

The method includes providing a glass assembly, which includes an outer tube and at least one inner tube running inside the outer tube, wherein the inner tube and the outer tube are arranged coaxially and wherein one end of the inner tube is substance-to-substance bonded to a tube wall of the outer tube; forming at least one aperture through the tube wall of the outer tube; introducing a porous diaphragm body into the aperture, the diaphragm body including a coating of glass in at least one section; and creating a substance-to-substance bond between the tube wall of the outer tube and at least the section of the diaphragm body comprising the coating of glass.

摘要： In a laser beam glass cutting method, a glass article to be cut (for example a moulded tumbler having a moil) is maintained at a high temperature below the softening point of the glass and then the glass is repeatedly irradiated with a laser beam along the required cut-off line by rotating the glass. During this step, a tensile force is applied by gravity or by a mechanical device to the part to be cut off. Following removal of the part, the edge of the glass is irradiated again with the laser beam to effect fire-polishing thereof, so as to improve the shape of that edge. During the irradiation by the laser beam, an auxiliary inert gas is blown into the glass article to prevent glass deposition.

摘要： A method of breaking glass fibers in which the fiber is locally heated by means of a heating wire and kinked through a predetermined angle. As a result, an impression of the heating wire is formed on the fiber. The fiber is subsequently cooled so as to retain the kinked condition. A slight tensile stress is applied so as to obtain a stress distribution which decreases across the fiber cross-section, and the fiber is broken at the location of the kink.

The apparatus includes a plurality of storage racks for storing the glass tubes prior to their advancement. An advancement wheel that moves the tubes one at a time along a curvilinear path to a transfer point where the glass tubes are, either singularly or in pairs, deposited in holding guides that permit the glass tubes to move in a longitudinal direction as they are consumed by the severing machine. The invention also incorporates a finger arrangement that effects a very rapid horizontal translation of the glass tubes while they are maintained in vertical alignment.
