    • A cold water washing formula and a method of reducing the soil load on a textile by introducing the textile and cold water into an internal assembly within a washing machine. The method includes a first break wash wherein the textile, water, and a solvent are introduced into the washing machine to initiate soil removal. In a second break wash, a surfactant and an alkali are added to the first break wash to continue the washing cycle. The combined first and second break washes are drained from the internal assembly and the textile is rinsed with water. After draining the first rinse from the internal assembly, a second rinse including ozonated water and an acid is introduced into the internal assembly. The second rinse is drained from the internal assembly and a third rinse, which includes ozonated water, is introduced into the internal assembly to rinse the textile. The invention also includes a cold water washing formula which includes ozonated water, a non-ionic surfactant, a solvent, and a sufficient amount of an acid to maintain the cold water washing formula to a pH below 13.

    • An improved method of laundering clothes and textiles comprises: providing a washing machine having a tub furnished with a fixed outer shell 11 and an inner cylinder 12 that is provided within the outer shell 11, that is rotatably supported on a horizontal rotating shaft 13 and that has a plurality of orifices in the outer peripheral wall through which a washing solution can pass; putting the clothes and textiles into the inner cylinder 12; charging the outer shell 11 with a washing solution Q having a polyelectrolyte containing detergent dissolved therein; and laundering the clothes and textiles with ozone gas from an ozonizer 21 being introduced from an ozone gas supply port 24a directly into the washing solution Q at a temperature of from about 40.degree. C. to less than 50.degree. C., preferably from about 40.degree. C. to about 45.degree. C. between the outer shell 11 and inner cylinder 12. The method has such a great laundering power that severe soiling of the collar and yellowing can be removed in a regular washing cycle without employing any preliminary or post treatments. In addition, the method can be implemented with existing commercial washing machines with ozone being readily introduced into washing solutions even if no special means is employed to mix them with ozone gas.

    • A process of removing soil and/or stains from fabrics by immersing the fabrics in a peroxygen bleach bath containing as a peroxygen activator an N-sulfonylimidazole of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are each selected from the class consisting of hydrogen, halogen, alkoxy of 1 to 16 carbon atoms, carbonylmethoxy, nitro, an aliphatic hydrocarbon radical of 1 to 16 carbon atoms, a cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon radical of 3 to 7 carbon atoms, an aromatic hydrocarbon radical of the benzene and naphthalene series and a heterocyclic radical of 1 to 2 rings each containing 5 to 6 members of which 1 to 2 are heteroatoms selected from the group consisting of nitrogen, oxygen and sulfur while taken together R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 can complete a benzene ring and R.sub.1 is a hydrocarbon or heterocyclic radical as above defined for R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4. Also described are dry blend compositions containing the bleach bath components.
