    • A crossing panel includes a pair of intersecting rails, a pair of crossing line rails, a plurality of railroad ties supporting the crossing line rails such that the crossing line rails are angled upwardly from a base elevation toward the respective main line rail and terminating such that a tread bearing surface of each crossing line rail at its terminal end is at a height above the crown of the intersecting line rail, an external frog casting being aligned with and secured to the terminal ends of the crossing line rails and having an external frog tread bearing surface substantially above the crown of an intersecting line rail, and transitional guide castings disposed between the intersecting rails and respectively aligned with the crossing line rails. The transitional guide castings are substantially horizontal, and each has a crown maintained at a height sufficient to maintain a railcar wheel of a train wheel set above the intersecting line rails.

    • A track rail having a groove for flanges of rail vehicle track wheels in an upper surface of the rail and having a central bar portion and flanges extending integrally sideways from the top of the bar portion is inserted in a recess preformed in the roadway with clearance so the rail is supported from the roadway's surface by the flanges. The rail is shallow so the recess is only shollowly preformed in the roadway. If the roadway has insufficient load-bearing capacity it is possible to reinforce the roadway by a concrete beam around 30 centimeters wide and 10 centimeters deep grouted with concrete in the road surface; this again is shallow for rail tracks. This beam would be recessed to receive the rail as above and also to receive the flanges.

    • A portable crossover of high strength elastomeric material, such as polyurethane resin, which is placed upon the ground in the path of a high tonnage earth moving vehicle. A cable, supplying electrical power to an electric excavator, is placed in a Ushaped channel or recess and a strip insert of elastomeric material is placed over the cable thereby preventing debris from damaging the cable or causing subsequent removal of the cable to be difficult. The crossover is shaped particularly to provide ramps on each side for the vehicle to engage and has central load-carrying shoulders which restrict central deflection of the crossover, under the wheels of the vehicle, such that vehicle load is not imposed on the cable. A towbar, of rigid plate material or a cable or chain fixedly joins one end of the crossover whereby a two vehicle may connect to and relocate a crossover from place to place as needed, upon removal of the cable from the channel.
