    • A telescopic shaft is provided. The telescopic shaft includes a first shaft including a first coupler having an inner circumferential surface including an external straight groove and an external inclination groove formed thereon, the external straight groove having a semi-circular cross section and being formed in parallel to a rotation axis and the external inclination groove having a semi-circular cross section, being inclined with respect to the external straight groove at a predetermined angle, and being shaped like a spiral, a second shaft including a second coupler inserted into the first coupler and having an outer circumferential surface including an internal straight groove and an internal inclination groove formed thereon, the internal straight groove having a semi-circular cross section and corresponding to the external straight groove and the internal inclination groove having a semi-circular cross section, being inclined in an opposite direction to the external inclination groove at a predetermined angle with respect to the internal straight groove, and being shaped like a spiral, and a plurality of balls arranged in a line in an axial direction between the external straight groove and the internal straight groove, one ball being arranged between the external inclination groove and the internal inclination groove, wherein the first shaft and the second shaft are coupled to extend and retract in an axial direction, thereby preventing play from occurring in a circumferential direction and preventing separation of balls.

    • A universal joint carried by an elongate body having an axis. The universal joint has an inner race that pivots omni-directionally within an outer race and a series of first and second opposed cavities formed in the inner race and the outer race. There are a plurality of torque transfer elements, each torque transfer element having a first portion that engages a first cavity and a second portion that engages a corresponding second cavity. The first cavity is a socket that permits rotation of the first portion within the first cavity as the inner race pivots omni-directionally within the outer race and the second cavity is a track oriented in the direction of the axis of the elongate body. The second portion moves along the track as the inner race pivots omni-directionally within the outer race of the second portion along the track. The second portion has at least one drive surface that engages an inner surface of the track at more than one point along the direction of the track.

    • A universal joint for transmitting driving torque between rotative members including an inner joint member for connection to one of the rotative members and an outer joint member for connection to the inner joint member and to the other of the rotative members. The inner joint member swivels within the outer joint member by virtue of contacting inner and outer spherical surface portions on the outer and inner joint members, respectively. Torque is transmitted between the inner and outer joint members by a plurality of roller balls which extend between a recess in the inner joint member and a plurality of circumferentially spaced-apart rectilinear recesses in the outer joint member which are disposed between the spherical inner surface portions on the outer joint member. The recess in the inner joint member permits the spherical roller balls to come into contact with one another, and the rectilinear recesses in the outer joint member permit the roller balls to separate when the inner and outer joint members articulate with respect to one another.
