摘要： An improved injection dart is disclosed. A flow restrictor positioned at a forward end of a dart body is provided. The flow restrictor has a generally cylindrical restrictor body portion and a radially outward extending flange portion at a forward end thereof. The flange is securely held in position. The restrictor body also having a recess in a rearward end. The flange portion holds said restrictor in a position where an inner bore of a cannula is precisely aligned with the restrictor bore. The restrictor acts to diminish a variable flow rate so that all flow rates above a maximum flow rate are restricted to be less than the maximum flow rate. The flange also keeps a forward end of the flow channel bore open but allows for radially inward deformation of the restrictor at a rear end of said flow channel bore.

摘要： A retrieval system for a range animal injection apparatus is described. The retrieval system includes a valve positioned between a syringe and a needle. In an open position there is a free flow of liquids from a syringe to the needle. In the closed position flow is precluded. A contact member is movable axially in relation to the needle between a first end and a second end. A rigid coupling couples the movement of the contact member and a valve member. The valve is in a closed position when the contact member is positioned adjacent the second end of the needle. The valve is in an open position when the contact member is positioned adjacent the first end of the needle. When the second end of the needle enters a hide of an animal the contact member is pushed toward the first end of the needle by the hide of the animal forcing the valve into the open position. Pressure from a pressure source urges liquid medication in the syringe passed the open valve member through the needle until the liquid medication has vacated the syringe. Continued pressure from the pressure source then urges the valve member into the closed position, thereby moving the contact member toward the second end of the needle until the contact member pushes the needle out of the hide of the animal.

摘要： A tranquilizer dart for injecting a tranquilizing liquid into an animal consists of a cylindrical chamber with a tapered forward end provided with a pointed hollow needle. A conical valve bears against an annular seat in the chamber and has a triggering pin extending through the needle and normally projecting forwardly beyond its point. Tranquilizer liquid is contained in the chamber between the valve and a front plunger. A rear plunger is provided in the rear end of the chamber, and rearward movement thereof is limited by an insertable stop pin. The rear plunger serves, on loading, to compress the air between itself and the front plunger. Responsive to impact, the triggering pin is pushed back, unseating the conical valve, and the compressed air forces the front plunger forward, thus injecting the liquid into the animal.
