    • An attachment to a camera lens for creating a single slide transparency or photograph from two slide transparencies such that a before-and-after or combination picture can be formed on a single photograph or transparency comprising an enclosure formed from a plurality of opaque sides and one translucent side. An aperture is formed through one of the opaque sides and has a collar for connecting the slide duplicator to the camera lens. A slot located adjacent the single translucent side is used for engaging the slide transparencies that are to be photographed. Mirrors within the duplicator are arranged for reflecting and directing images formed from light rays passing through the translucent side and through the slides to the camera lens so that the camera can photograph the dual images onto a single transparency or photograph. First surface mirrors are used in lieu of regular mirrors for clearly and distinctly reflecting and directing the images.

    • A method is disclosed whereby film images designed to produce a high-impact effect upon the members of an audience viewing a motion picture film are composited with other images designed to provide the conventional cinematic effect upon such audience members. "High-impact" film images photographed at forty-eight frames per second are composited with "conventional" images photographed at the traditional motion picture rate of twenty-four frames per second, with such images superimposed onto the same film frame. Certain portions of the motion picture image seen by the audience deliver a greater illusion of reality than other portions of the same motion picture image. In addition, the method described can accommodate the intercutting of discrete scenes presenting either high-impact or conventional cinema experience. The method disclosed here also allows easy conversion of films to the conventional twenty-four frames per second rate associated with conventional motion picture release and distribution.

    • A video printer for making a print of main frames of different scenes of a video motion picture or animation recorded on a video tape, video floppy or the like can detect automatically one frame for each scene. For detecting a scene transition, the video printer is provided with a frame comparing device for comparing video signals of every pair of two adjacent frames reproduced time serially to provide a signal representative of the degree of correlation thereof. A judging device determines that there is a scene transition when the frame comparing device provides a signal larger than a preset signal. The video printer makes a print of a first frame reproduced after a lapse of a predetermined time period after the detection of the transition of scene. The main frames of the different scenes are printed as a composite image to provide an index print for demonstrating the contents of a video tape.

    • A method of combining projected images with a three dimensional set. In the present invention, a three dimensional set of any desired scale is provided. A second set is then built for use by live actors and other desired images to be incorporated into the three dimensional scene. Props are disposed on the second set and corresponds to the three dimensional scenes. These second set props are blacked out so that when photographed they are rendered invisible. A beam splitter is provided in front of the three dimensional set and a monitor is positioned to reflect a video image from the second set on to the beam splitter. The actors and props on the second set are then positioned to achieve the desired scale. For example, the projected image of the actor may be life size, smaller than life size or larger than life size. The actor is then filmed in real time interacting with the blacked out second set props and the image is recorded. The recorded image is then played back on the monitor reflected on to the beam splitter to give the illusion that the recorded image is interacting with the props in a three dimensional set. The live image may be transmitted directly to the monitor for projection on to the beam splitter without first recording it, if desired.
