    • An image forming apparatus includes an image carrier, a development device, a transferring device, a static eliminating device, a cleaning device, a light concentrating member and a separating claw. On the image carrier, an electrostatic latent image is formed. The development device develops and visualizes the electrostatic latent image by a toner. The transferring device transfers the toner on the image carrier to a recording sheet. The static eliminating device irradiates the image carrier with a light to eliminate a remained static charge. The cleaning device removes the toner remained on the image carrier. The light concentrating member is arranged between the static eliminating device and image carrier to concentrate the light emitted from the static eliminating device and to irradiate the image carrier with the concentrated light. The separating claw is supported by the light concentrating member to separate the recording sheet from the image carrier.

    • An electrophotographic process includes providing an organic photoconductor comprised of a charge generation layer and a charge transport layer containing a poly(alkanedioic acid 2,6-dimethoxyanthracene-9,10-diol ester) resin formed on a conductive substrate, and having a half decay exposure; and eliminating static from the organic photoconductor by illuminating the organic photoconductor with a static elimination light having a wavelength ranging from 520 to 680 nm and with a dose of the static elimination light which ranges from 3 to 10 times the half decay exposure of the organic photoconductor. Preferably, the wavelength of the static elimination light ranges from 550 to 650 nm. An electrophotographic apparatus includes an organic photoconductor comprising a charge generation layer and a charge transport layer containing a poly(alkanedioic acid 2,6-dimethoxyanthracene-9,10-diol ester) resin formed on a conductive substrate, and having a half decay exposure; a static elimination light source providing light having a peak wavelength ranging from 520 to 680 nm, and providing an irradiation dose of the light ranging from 3 to 10 times the half decay exposure of the organic photoconductor; and a controller for correctively controlling developing bias in response to one of (a) temperature and relative humidity in the surroundings of the organic photoconductor or (b) accumulated number of repeated uses of the organic photoconductor; and a sensor for sensing temperature and relative humidity.

    • A neutralizer for use in an image forming apparatus for eliminating an electric charge from a non-image area in a surface of an image carrying member has an array of light emitting elements, a shift register and a driving device. The light emitting elements, driven by the driving device, eliminate the electric charge from a selective portion along a line across the width of the image carrying member by selectively emitting a light beam from each light emitting element. The shift register shifts-in a binary data during a registering time period, and holds the binary data during a holding time period. The driving device drives each light emitting element based on a binary data being in the register both during the registering time period and the holding time period. The light emitting elements, therefore, change their states between turn-on and turn-off states successively in the registering time period, and the neutralizer decreases the number of simultaneous changes of the the state of the light emitting elements.

    • A reader-printer for copying on a recording paper an image recorded in a microfilm is disclosed, which reader-printer is provided with shutter members capable of intercepting the projected light passing through the part of margin bordering the image. The size of the image in the microfilm is memorized in a memory. The size of the image to be copied and the size of the recording paper on which this image is to be formed are compared based on the ratio of magnification of projection of a projection lens to be used for projecting light through the image on a photosensitive member. The shutter members are driven based on a result of the comparison so that, of the path of the projected light directed to the photosensitive member, the part corresponding to the margin is automatically intercepted by the shutter members.
