    • An apparatus of shielding a very low frequency (VLF) electric field on the front face of a cathode ray tube (CRT) in a video appliance. The apparatus includes a signal detection section, connected to the flyback transformer, for detecting an anode voltage applied to the anode of the CRT; an inversion-amplifying section for inversion-amplifying the anode voltage detected by the signal detection section; a waveform-shaping section for waveform-shaping the negative polarity pulse signal induced from the induction coil; a signal synthesizing section for synthesizing the negative polarity pulse signal inputted from the waveform-shaping section with an output signal of the inversion amplifying section; an output amplifying section for amplifying the synthesized negative polarity pulse signal inputted from the signal synthesizing section; and an open-loop antenna, mounted on a predetermined portion of the CRT, for radiating the synthesized negative polarity pulse signal inputted from the output amplifying section. The VLF electric field generated from the CRT is offset by the electric field caused by the synthesized negative polarity pulse radiated through the open-loop antenna.

    • An automatic degaussing circuit for a color picture tube (CPT) capable of automatically degaussing the CPT when a power conservation mode is released in a monitor having a power conservation function. The degaussing circuit includes a degaussing coil for eliminating electromagnetic waves produced from the CPT, a power conservation mode detecting section for detecting the release of the power conservation mode in accordance with a power conservation mode signal of the CPT inputted thereto and providing a degaussing control signal for controlling the operation of the degaussing coil if the release of the power conservation mode is detected, and a degaussing coil driving section for driving the degaussing coil for a predetermined time in accordance with the degaussing control signal when the power conservation mode is released.

    • A cathode ray tube display comprises a cathode ray tube (10) having a screen (11) connected to a neck portion (12) via a bell portion (13). Cancellation coil means (160,160') are arranged to receive a signal based on a scanning signal for the cathode ray tube and arranged to reduce stray magnetic fields radiating from the display. The cancellation coil means comprises a first cancellation coil (160) and a second cancellation coil (160') located on each of opposite sides of the cathode ray tube. The first cancellation coil (160) are located adjacent the bell portion and the second cancellation coil (160') being located adjacent the neck portion. The first and second cancellation coils each being contained in a plane substantially perpendicular to the screen of the cathode ray tube.

    • A method of degaussing a cathode ray tube where two pairs of degaussing coils are arranged with one pair located at the top and bottom and the other to the right and left of the cathode ray tube after impaired color purity correction process of an electron beam has been carried out for the cathode ray tube using a magnetization process with a magnetization including an anticipated amount of degaussing for the cathode ray tube when the cathode ray tube is incorporated in a display device. The degaussing of a magnetic material within the cathode ray tube is then carried out with the anticipated amount of degaussing using the degaussing coils. In this way, a color cathode ray tub with no impaired color purity can be provided because the cathode ray trajectories corrected by magnetization in the magnetization process is not easily changed during use after incorporation in the display device.

    • A display comprising a cathode ray display tube (1) having an electromagnetic deflection yoke (2) is described. A pair of first deflection coils (7,6) are located symmetrically about the longitudinal axis of the tube (1) on opposite sides of the yoke (2) for producing within the tube (1) a first magnetic deflection field. A pair of second deflection coils (8,20) are similarly located symmetrically about the longitudinal axis on opposite sides of the yoke (2) for producing within the tube (1) a second magnetic deflection field at right angles to the first deflection field. The display is further provided with a pair of first cancellation coils (4,3) connected to the first deflection coils (7,6) for producing a first cancellation field which tends to cancel a first stray field produced by the first deflection coils (7,6). Support means (10,11) secure the first cancellation coils symmetrically about the longitudinal axis. The display additionally comprises a pair of second cancellation coils (50,32) coupled to the second deflection coils (8,20) for producing a second cancellation field which tends to cancel a second stray field produced by the second deflection coils (8,20). Further support means (51,52) are provided for positioning the second cancellation coils (50,32) symmetrically about the longitudinal axis in such a way that a plane containing a second cancellation coil (50) is perpendicular to any plane containing a first cancellation coil (4). Preferably, the display also comprises control means (64) for generating a predetermined cancellation current in the second cancellation coils (50,32) in response to a particular second deflection current in the second deflection coils (8,20).
