62 INTRA-MAMMARY TEAT SEALANT FORMULATION AND METHOD OF USING SAME TO REDUCE OR ELIMINATE VISUAL DEFECTS IN AGED CHEESES US12755807 2010-04-07 US20100266708A1 2010-10-21 Scott A. Rankin
Described is an intra-mammary teat sealant and a corresponding method of forming a physical barrier in the teat canal of a non-human animal for prophylactic treatment of mammary disorders during the animal's dry period. The method includes the step of infusing a teat seal formulation including a metal salt in a glyceride-containing gel base into the teat canal of the animal. The method also prevents the formation of black spot defect in dairy products, especially cheddar cheese, made from the milk of animals so treated.

PURPOSE: Provided is a roundel tip of swirl gun for sealant coating in which nipple is inserted into the through hole of the supporting ball so that the nipple carries on the precession motion around the support ball and changes the width of the spiral bead of the sealant by changing the position of the above support ball. CONSTITUTION: The roundel tip comprises: a flexible pipe like tube (1) made of metal and resin complex; a hallow shaft motor (2) which tube is extended to the bottom part; a revolving eccentric housing (3) with eccentric through hole which is attached to the hallow shaft motor and makes eccentric axis of interior cylinder; a circular nipple support layer (4) situated in above eccentric through hole with the central through hole; a metal pipe type nipple (5) located and extended to the bottom in the through hole of nipple support layer, upper part of which is connected to the tube so that sealant moves inside; support ball (6) of circular type supporting nipple which is inserted into the through hall and angle control device (7) to support the revolving the support ball. As the hallow shaft motor revolves, the eccentric housing revolves, nipple support layer revolves eccentrically, the nipple moves in precession motion around the above support ball and the angle of above precession motion is controlled by the angle control device.

66 Seal enhancer for cylinder valve connection US434753 1995-05-04 US5507531A 1996-04-16 Lewis L. Aldridge
A cylinder valve outlet includes a bore with a large cylindrical entry leading to a tapered seat. A nipple with a cylindrical neck is fit into the large diameter entry of the bore of the valve outlet. The nipple further includes an arcuately convex mating end for seating in the conically tapered seat of the valve outlet. A seal enhancer is between the valve outlet and the nipple. The seal enhancer is generally tubular with opposed leading and trailing ends and a cylindrical section therebetween. The leading end is tapered for engagement between the tapered seat of the valve outlet and the mating end of the nipple. The trailing end of the seal enhancer is flared outwardly. The seal enhancer is shorter than the mating portions of the nipple so that the outwardly flared trailing end is visually readily apparent. The outwardly flared trailing end also facilitates separation of the seal enhancer from either the nipple or the valve outlet when the gas cylinder is being replaced.

74 Sealant for hose fittings US829166 1977-08-30 US4156540A 1979-05-29 William E. Currie
A means for ensuring a firm seal between a hose fitting and a hose comprising a sealant that also acts as a lubricant and is applied to the nipple portion of the fitting prior to insertion into the core tube of the hose. The sealant causes the core tube or the core tube liner, if used, to soften and swell, thereby completely filling and firmly engaging the threads in the nipple portion, and also causes a localized plasticized condition in the core tube or liner adjacent the threaded portion of the nipple resulting in the core tube retaining firm engagement with the nipple during temperature cycling and flexing of the hose assembly.

76 Self-removing cover for percussion type firearms US76216 1993-06-14 US5339553A 1994-08-23 Robert M. Kearns
A self-removing cover guard for muzzle leading firearms of the type having a nipple for receiving a percussion cap. The cover guard includes a plate or cup secured to the breech or drum of the firearm by the nipple; a spring loaded hinge connected at one end to the plate or cup; and a nipple cover affixed to the other end of the hinge for pivotal placement or displacement of the nipple cover on or off the nipple. The spring, which may be integral with the hinge, is biased to automatically remove the nipple cover off the nipple, and hence the percussion cap, when the firearm hammer is retracted from its un-cocked, cover holding, position. A sealant may be provided between the nipple cover and the nipple or cup to protect the percussion cap from moisture.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent swelling of a hose over a long period, and to prevent leakage by swelling of the hose and slipping-out of the hose. SOLUTION: An annular recessed part 1b and an annular projection part 1c extending in the peripheral direction, are respectively formed in the axial direction on an outer peripheral surface of a nipple 1. An annular recessed groove 1d is formed on the outer periphery of this annular projection part 1c. An elastically deformable annular sealant 4 is fitted in this annular recessed groove 1d. Its outer peripheral end is projected from an outer peripheral surface of the annular projection part 1c. When diametrically contracting a sleeve 2 by a fastener 3 by respectively positioning an arranging position of these annular projection part 1c and annular sealant 4 and an arranging position of the fastener 3 so as to overlap in the radial direction, a hose inner peripheral surface H1 arranged inside the fastener 3 is strongly pressed to an arranging part of the annular projection part 1c and the annular sealant 4 of the nipple 1, and is compressively deformed larger than a part opposed to the annular recessed part 1b. This compressively deformed hose inner peripheral surface H1 and the annular sealant 4 are further strongly press-fitted. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT

79 Device for oral administration of liquids US932790 1992-08-20 US5354274A 1994-10-11 Robert J. Demeter; Stephen F. Badylak; Kirk S. Foster; Leslie A. Geddes
A device is provided for facilitating oral administration of unit dosages of liquid formulations, particularly to pediatric and geriatric patients. Sealed cartridges containing unit doses of liquid nutrients or medications can be locked into the device and at the same time, breached so that the contained-liquid formulation can flow from the cartridge into a hollow nipple for facile oral consumption. The liquid formulation-contained sealed cartridge includes a container having a side wall collapsible responsive to withdrawal of liquid from the hollow nipple.
80 Rotary joint with extended life seal EP92302909.4 1992-04-02 EP0528510A1 1993-02-24 Peter, John Henry; Timm, Gerald Leroy

The invention pertains to a rotary joint for use with rotating machinery, such as a dryer drum, where the joint is conveying steam by means of a rotating nipple and sealing structure. The primary elements are a stationary housing comprised of a head (14), body (12) and a wear plate (16), a pickup tube and a spring biased nipple (28) with a collar (36) which engages a molybdenum lubricated reverse radius seal ring (46). Alignment of the components is maintained through the interaction of two guide bearings (30,32) supporting the nipple, the wear plate sealing surface and the nipple collar which is spring biased against a reverse radius seal ring intermediate the wear plate sealing surface and the nipple collar sealing surface. The invention includes a plurality of radial slots (60) defined on the nipple collar sealing surface (52) which reduce seal loading when steam is applied to the joint by reducing the area subjected to a differential pressure, and which lubricate the sealing surface with steam and a dry lubricant impregnated reverse radius seal ring (46) positioned intermediate the wear plate (16) and the nipple collar sealing surfaces (52).
