PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid resistor which is prevented from deteriorating in performance due to the occurrence of bubbles generated by a current flowing through an electrolytic solution and is improved in service life. SOLUTION: This liquid resistor 40 provided with a discharge gap is equipped with a liquid resistor 30a, and a discharge gap 42 connected in parallel with the liquid resistor 30a. The liquid resistor 30a is equipped with an insulating vessel 32 with two open end faces, a pair of opposed electrodes 44 which stop up the open end faces of the vessel 32, and an electrolytic solution 36 which fills up the insulating vessel 32. A discharge gap 42 is equipped with a pair of opposed electrodes 44. This liquid resistor 40 provided with a discharge gap is used as a braking resistor for a high-voltage pulse generator.

PURPOSE:To enhance the capacity and efficiency without increasing the height by employing a flexible band, having inner periphery jointed to the outer periphery of inner tube, at the spiral protrusion of the inner tube having outer periphery on which a cooling liquid flows. CONSTITUTION:A heat radiation fin 3c made of a thin stainless steel plate is wound around a stainless steel inner tube 3 while being resistor welded, entirely at the inner periphery thereof, to the inner tube 3. When the inner tube 3 is inserted into an outer tube 1, formation of a gap between the outer periphery of radiation fin 3c and the inner periphery of outer tube 1 is prevented because the radiation fin 3c formed on the outer periphery of the inner tube 3 bends upward even if an outer tube 1 having small-inner diameter is combined due to fluctuation of inner diameter. Furthermore, the radiation fin 3c forming a channel 11 has the width, for vertically partitioning the outer periphery of the inner tube 3 and the outer tube 1, just equal to the thickness of the radiation fin 3c, and thereby the head loss of channel is reduced thus enhancing the cooling effect of the outer tube 1.
