摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydraulic shock absorber which changes damping force according to a stroke position of a piston, wherein a gas chamber partitioned by a free piston can be accommodated axially in line with an oil chamber in a cylinder and basic length is shortened.
SOLUTION: A hydraulic shock absorber 1 is equipped with a piston 30 slidably fitted to the inside of a cylinder 20, a piston and anti-piston rod side oil chambers 2, 3 respectively partitioned on both surfaces of the piston 30 in the cylinder 20, an outer shell 10 coaxially arranged in the outside of the piston 20 and having larger diameter and longer length than the cylinder has, a by-pass passage 4 which is formed between the cylinder 20 and the outer shell 10 and which communicates between the piston and anti-piston rod side oil chambers 2, 3 through the medium of a first and second communication holes provided to different positions in a piston stroke direction of the cylinder 20, a free piston 50 slidably arranged in an extended part 17 of the outer shell 10 extending from an end of the cylinder 20, an oil sump chamber 5 communicating with only the anti-piston rod side oil chamber 3 partitioned by both surfaces of a free piston 50 respectively, and a gas chamber 6 in which gas is sealed.

摘要： A vehicle track includes an endless belt. A plurality of laterally-elongated propulsive lugs and longitudinally-elongated turning lugs extend outwardly from an oute r side of the endless belt. The propulsive lugs provide substantially longitudinally facin g surfaces that dig into the snow to give the vehicle track propulsion and braking traction. However, the gripping force of the propulsive lugs impedes the longitudinally-elongated track's ability to pivot about a generally vertical axis as the tracked vehicle turns. The turning lugs inclu de longitudinally- elongated side surfaces that substantially face in the lateral direction of the track. When the tracked vehicle is steered, the fuming lugs form laterally-facing ramps that push the track upwardly away from the snow in response to lateral forces exerted by the sno w on the fuming lugs. The resulting upward track movement partially disengages the propulsio n and fuming lugs from the snowy to enhance the track's steerability.

A part of the oil flowing out of the oil chamber 28 in an expansion stroke is discharged through the needle valve 35 and the puppet valve 37 in order to allow respective regulation of the damping force at that time.

The piston separates the shock body fluid chamb er into a compression fluid chamber and a rebound fluid chamber. A reservoir fluid chamber accommodates the entry of the shock rod into the fluid chamber as the shock absorber compresses under shock forces. The compression fluid chamber is in fluid communication with the reservoir fluid chamber through a third chamber or passage. A first valv e may control passage of fluid from the compression fluid chamber into the passage. Second and third valves may be disposed within the passage in parallel with each other and in series with the first valve. The third valve may include an easily accessible knob disposed outside the shock body.
