    • Object: To provide an armrest that can both ensure high strength and achieve load dispersion without inviting an upward-pointed shape or a poor appearance. Means to Solve the Problem: According to one configuration of an armrest of the present invention, an armrest 140 is for a vehicle passenger and is for attachment to a door trim 104 that constitutes the interior of a vehicle door 100. This armrest has an upper face 142 for placement of an elbow of a passenger P; a side face 144 that extends downward from the inward end, with respect to the vehicle width direction, of the upper face; a connection portion 146b that is formed at a predetermined location at the outward end, with respect to the vehicle width direction, of the upper face, and is for connection to the door trim; and reinforcement ribs 150a and 150b that extend downward from the reverse side of the upper face between the connection portion and the side face. Notches 152a and 152b each having a height such that the vertex thereof does not reach the upper face (back face 142a) are formed in the reinforcement ribs.

    • A four axis force stick provides signals indicative of force applied to the stick in an axis corresponding to a control axis of an aircraft, including pitch, roll, yaw and lift/speed. The force-related signals are applied through proportional and integral gain signal paths to operate electrohydraulic servos that control the aerodynamic surfaces of the aircraft, such as the cyclic and collective blade pitch of the main rotor and the tail rotor blade pitch of a helicopter, or the ailerons, rudder, elevator and thrust of a fixed wing aircraft. Signal conditioning provides a dead band to avoid integrating minute, inadvertent force stick signal outputs, and vernier sensitivity at low forces with high gain at high forces. Analog and digital embodiments are discussed. The relationship between this wholly new mode of aircraft control and ancillary aircraft functions, such as ground steering, autopilot and stability functions, are also discussed.

    • A vehicle seat, especially for airplanes and omnibusses, having an arm rest formed as a box beam support with improved means for mounting a passenger control unit is disclosed. The control device, shiftable between use and non-use positions, is rotatably mounted to the front end of the arm rest between a pair of plastic guide strips affixed to the confronting side walls of the arm rest by means of resiliently biased pins on the control device rotatably engaging in aligned bores in the guide strips and side walls. The guide strips are formed with a straight portion and a curved portion having chamfered edges. An open-ended cross groove is provided on the curved portion for engaging a resiliently biased detent pin on the control device in its use position.
