    • A folder gluer for folding a cardboard sheet having first through fourth panels connected through connecting portions and a glue tab and joining the first and fourth panels at the glue tab is disclosed. The folder gluer includes a pair of pressing members movable relative to one another in a cardboard sheet width direction perpendicular to a cardboard sheet feed direction for pressing the connecting portions of the first and fourth panels which are being folded, a detector disposed upstream in the feed direction from the pair of pressing members for detecting a passage of the cardboard sheet being fed in the feed direction and generating a detection signal, and a controller for determining, based on the generation of the detection signal from the detector, a timing at which the pair of pressing members are caused to move relative to one another and press on the connection portions of the first and fourth panels after the first and fourth panels are folded to 90° and before being folded to 180°.

    • Disclosed is a corrugated paperboard box making machine, which comprises: a slotter for slotting a corrugated paperboard sheet to form slots, a die-cutter disposed downstream of the slotter, the die-cutter including a die cylinder with a punching die and an anvil cylinder; a cutting blade for cutting, in cooperation with the anvil cylinder, the corrugated paperboard sheet slotted by the slotter, into two small-size corrugated paperboard sheets, along a direction perpendicular to the conveyance direction; and a lifting and lowering mechanism for lifting and lowering the cutting blade in such a manner as to allow a position of the cutting blade with respect to a corrugated paperboard sheet being passing through the anvil cylinder to be changed between a cutting position where the cutting blade is permitted to cut the corrugated paperboard sheet, and a non-cutting position where the cutting blade is precluded from cutting the corrugated paperboard sheet.

    • The present invention is directed to providing an apparatus capable of transferring a sheet while reducing wear and using a relatively small driving force. The present invention is also directed to providing an apparatus capable of effectively obtaining a vacuum suction force with a simple structure. An apparatus 1 for transferring a sheet according to the present invention comprises a conveyer belt 30 provided with a plurality of vacuum suction holes 30c for allowing the belt member to vacuum-suck a sheet using an evacuation mechanism 12, a belt support member 8 having a plurality of evacuation passages 8c communicated with the vacuum suction holes, and a sheet support member 4 adapted to support the sheet in such a manner as to define an interspace between an uppermost region of an outer peripheral surface of the conveyer belt and a bottom surface of the sheet when the evacuation mechanism is in a deactivated state, whereby, when the evacuation mechanism is in an activated state, an air in the interspace S between the conveyer belt and the sheet D is evacuated from the vacuum suction holes and through the evacuation passages, so that the conveyer belt is displaced upwardly by a resulting vacuum suction force to transfer the sheet while vacuum-sucking the sheet.

    • A printing machine includes a transfer device including a conveyor having suction holes formed therethrough for transferring cardboard sheets one by one, a suction device for applying a suction force on one of the two surfaces of each of the cardboard sheets, which one of two surfaces faces the conveyor, and ink jet heads located to face the other of the surfaces of each of the cardboard sheets to be spaced apart therefrom. Since the first conveyor belt and the second conveyor belt are disposed to overlap partly with each other, the corrugated board sheets can stably be transferred therebetween even in the absence of the printing cylinder.

    • A method and apparatus is provided for effecting semi-closed loop positioning of a work piece, such as corrugated-board, which corrects for inherent tolerance errors in the apparatus. A controller operates a processing device, for example a slotter, a positioning device and a position measuring device. The processing device and the work piece are positioned relative each other to align the processing device with a target position on the work piece defined by a target position value. The measuring device is then used to determine the initial actual position value of the processing device relative to the work piece. A processing size is determined and tested to find whether the size is within a given tolerance. If the size is outside the tolerance, fine adjustments are made to reposition the work piece. Once the position of the processing device is within tolerance, the measuring device measures the position of the processing device to determine a corrected actual position value. The difference between the initial actual position value and the corrected actual position value is added to the target value to produce a new target position value for subsequent work piece processing.
