    • An installation structure releases a brake pedal in a vehicle collision. A pedal arm has a groove coupled with a pipe. A front portion of the groove has a smaller width than the pipe. Alternatively, a pedal arm is hingedly mounted on a support member. A connector secures the pedal arm to the support member for normal operation, and permits separation of the pedal arm from the support member in response to a reward force resulting from a collision impact. The support member has a cylindrical member, and the pedal arm defines a forward facing opening, force-fit onto the cylindrical member. The opening has a width smaller than the cylindrical member. Alternatively, the connector has two support plates on a pipe of the cylindrical member, at both sides of the pedal arm. The plates have rear-facing grooves, and coupling members protruding from the pedal arm are received in the grooves.

    • An aircraft tug hitch assembly includes deflectable guide plates providing a converging pocket for mechanically positioning a tow bar eyelet with the hitch lock pin. The hitch includes a lock assembly including a lock pin is mounted on a slidable piston for operator controlled movement between a detented raised unlocked position and a lower locked position capturing the tow bar eyelet. An indicator ball carried by the piston is observable by the tug operator when the lock assembly is in the unlocked position, but is not visible in the locked position thereby confirming hitch status without the need for verbal communication with ground personnel.

    • A latch for a hitch having release mechanism including a pair of parallel oriented cylinders which are disposed to lock together two separable elements of a hitch. The locking cylinders are disposed between the confronting surfaces within portions of the separable hitch elements to receive a compression force across the both of the cylinders when the hitch elements are receiving an tensions so as to separate them. To release the hitch elements while under tension, one of the cylinders is rotated, causing the adjacent, parallel disposed cylinder to rotate in the opposite direction, rolling over the confronting surfaces in the same directions, and eventually out of and releasing the two separable hitch elements. Multiple embodiments are shown which relate to variations in hitch styles, and further embodiments relate to smaller clamping devices, such as hand tools, and to rotational couplers which are releasable while under torque.

    • A tow hitch system comprising a tow bar to be secured to a towing and to a towed vehicle. the towing vehicle includes spaced openings adjacent to the point where the tow bar is secured. There is an anchor point on the tow bar. A chain received at the anchor point. Safety catches at each end of the chain engage the spaced openings. Each safety catch comprises a central limb to be received in an opening. Side limbs extend from each end of the central limb to contact opposed sides of an area of the towing vehicle adjacent the point where the tow bar is secured to maintain the catch in position. The system is easy to make and very easy to use yet safe in use.
