摘要： Present invention relates to an apparatus to improve the riding feel of the vehicle when the rear wheels pass over a sporadic hollows or protrusions of a ground by altering the rear suspension characteristic, i.e. the spring constant and the damping force of the shock absorbers after such hollows or protrusions are detected by front wheels of the vehicle passing thereover and the detected hollow or protrusion is judged to exceed a predetermined size. Besides that, the present invention has another control measures to give a priority to the maintenance of the vehicle posture when the driving condition is that need drivability and stability more than the riding comfort over the above-mentioned rear suspension characteristic alteration.

摘要： A position control device includes a fluid-operated directional control valve for controlling the position of the piston of a cylinder assembly under fluid pressure in response to a control signal from an electronic controller. The position of the piston is predicted based on the control signal. A position detector detects when the piston has actually reached a predetermined position. When it is detected that the piston has actually reached the predetermined position, the predicted position of the piston is corrected. The electronic controller applies a control signal to the directional control valve so that the predicted position as corrected will be equalized to a target position for the piston. The predetermined position is a substantially intermediate position of the stroke of the piston. The directional control valve comprises a solenoid-controlled valve for controlling the flow rate of the fluid depending on the magnitude of a current supplied to the solenoid-operated valve. The position of the piston is calculated based on the magnitude of the current and a period of time during which the current is supplied to the solenoid-operated valve. An automotive suspension system incorporating the position control device is also disclosed.

A magnetorheological (MR) fluid clutch apparatus(es) is coupled to the at least one motor to receive torque from the motor, the MR fluid clutch apparatus controllable to transmit a variable amount of torque. A mechanism is between the at least one MR fluid clutch apparatus and the body to convert the torque received from the at least one MR fluid clutch apparatus into a force on the body. Sensor(s) provide information indicative of a state of the body or structure. A controller receives the information indicative of the state of the body or structure and for outputting a signal to control the at least one MR fluid clutch apparatus in exerting a desired force on the body to control movement of the body according to a desired movement behavior.

The actuator may have a housing which is connected to the one torsion bar part and houses a motor and a planetary gear mechanism connected to the motor, the gear output of which is connected to the other torsion bar part. and the planet wheels of which intermesh with a mating gear. A multistage planetary gear mechanism is provided, whose final planetary gear stage on the gear output side is equipped with planet wheels, wherein at least one of said planet wheels is divided into two axially adjacent spur gears which are rotatable relative to each other and between which a torsion spring is actively arranged. The divided planet wheel may be in play-free engagement with the mating gear.
