    • A method includes storing data in a group of analog memory cells by writing first storage values to the cells. After storing the data, second storage values are read from the cells using one or more first read thresholds. Third storage values that potentially cause cross-coupling interference in the second storage values are identified, and the third storage values are processed, to identify a subset of the second storage values as severely-interfered values. Fourth storage values are selectively re-read from the cells holding the severely-interfered values using one or more second read thresholds, different from the first read thresholds. The cross-coupling interference in the severely-interfered storage values is canceled using the re-read fourth storage values. The second storage values, including the severely-interfered values in which the cross-coupling interference has been canceled, are processed so as to reconstruct the data stored in the cell group.

    • A method for fault and fracture identification based on seismic data representing a geological section using dispersion properties of reflected and diffracted waves. The method includes scanning N parameters associated with the seismic data. The array includes the coordinate axes of the angle of emergence (β), the radius of curvature of the wave front (R) and either time or depth samples. The method also includes processing the N parameters, generating a new image having a cross-sectional shape associated with one of the reflected and diffracted waves, calculating parameters DS and LS, evaluating DS for the case of fracture characterization, and comparing, for the case of fault identification, parameter LS with a threshold value defining the type of wave as one of the reflected and diffracted wave, the cross-sectional shape being substantially circular for the reflected wave, and being elliptical for the diffracted wave.

    • A method for communication includes receiving a spatially-multiplexed signal using multiple receivers to produce multiple respective received signals. The spatially-multiplexed signal includes multiple simultaneously-transmitted symbols, which are selected from respective sets of constellation symbols, each constellation symbol representing a respective set of values of a group of data bits. Combinations of the constellation symbols are traversed iteratively. Each combination includes one constellation symbol from each of the sets of the constellation symbols and represents N data bits. The traversed combinations are searched for a combination that matches the received signals. During traversal of the combinations, at least 2N measures of likelihood regarding the values of the data bits represented by each traversed combination are accumulated. The accumulated measures of likelihood are processed to produce soft bit metrics. The values of the data bits carried by the multiple transmitted symbols are reconstructed responsively to the soft bit metrics.
