    • A satellite receiver includes a multi-channel tuner for processing a plurality of different transponder signals to simultaneously provide a plurality of different bit streams from at least two of the transponder signals. The multi-channel tuner includes (a) a demultiplexer for demultiplexing a received signal representing the plurality of transponder signals into a plurality of sample signals, each transponder signal conveying a bit stream, (b) a plurality of bifurcated filters operative on the plurality of sample signals for providing a plurality of filtered signals, and (c) a discrete cosine transform element operative on the plurality of filtered signals for simultaneously providing at least two of the bitstreams.

    • The disclosed embodiments relate to an apparatus and a method for re-synthesizing signals. The apparatus includes a receiver for receiving a plurality of digitally multiplexed signals, each digitally multiplexed signal associated with a different physical transmission channel, and for simultaneously recovering from at least two of the digital multiplexes a plurality of bit streams. The apparatus also includes a transmitter for inserting the plurality of bit streams into different digital multiplexes and for modulating the different digital multiplexes for transmission on different transmission channels. The method involves receiving a first signal having a plurality of different program streams in different frequency channels, selecting a set of program streams from the plurality of different frequency channels, combining the set of program streams to form a second signal, and transmitting the second signal.

    • A method and apparatus for re-modulating an RF carrier modulated signal using a Nyquist folding frequency modulation technique. The method modulates a digitized RF carrier modulated signal with a digital sequence of {1,−1,1,−1, . . . }, where the center frequency of the RF carrier modulated signal is at a first frequency and the sample rate of the modulating signal is at a second frequency. When the second frequency is four times the first frequency, the output of the digital modulation process is a spectrum-inverted copy of the source RF carrier modulated signal. For all other frequencies, the remodulated RF carrier modulated signal has a center frequency equal to the carrier frequency minus one-half the sample rate of the modulating signal. A spectrum inversion is then performed to recreate the spectrum of the source RF carrier modulated signal, which is now located at a different center frequency. The apparatus comprises a modulating signal source and a digital modulator. A resampler and a spectrum inverter may be used as needed.

    • A digital filtering system for filtering sample data includes a delay network for delaying input sample data to provide multiple delayed sample data outputs.     • A sample rate conversion system converts data of a first sample rate to data of a different second sample rate. The system involves an interpolator, operating at the first sample rate and includes a first interpolation network and a delay network. The first interpolation network interpolates the first sample rate data to provide upsampled interpolated data samples according to a first sample spacing. The delay network interpolates the upsampled interpolated data to provide delayed upsampled interpolated data samples, according to a second sample spacing of higher resolution than the first sample spacing, and preceding and succeeding an original sample position. The system also includes a digital filter operating at the second sample rate for filtering the higher resolution data samples to provide the second sample rate data.
