摘要： A wireless receiver (74) for receiving signals from a transmitter (72). The transmitter comprises a plurality of transmit antennas (TAT1′, TAT2′) for transmitting the signals, which comprise respective independent streams of symbols. Additionally, interference occurs between the respective streams. The receiver comprises a plurality of receive antennas (RAT1′, RAT2′) for receiving the signals as influenced by a channel effect between the receiver and the transmitter. The receiver also comprises circuitry (80) for multiplying the signals times a conjugate transpose of an estimate of the channel effect and times a conjugate transpose of a linear basis transformation matrix. The receiver also comprises circuitry (84) for selecting the linear basis transformation matrix from a finite set of linear basis transformation matrices. Lastly, the receiver comprises circuitry (88) for removing the interference between the respective streams.

摘要： Embodiments of the invention provide methods for maximizing the bandwidth utilization in the uplink of a communication system supporting time division multiplexing between unicast and multicast/broadcast communication modes during transmission time intervals in the downlink of a communication system. This is accomplished by multiplexing at least unicast control signaling for UL scheduling assignments in TTIs supporting the multicast/broadcast communication mode. Moreover, multiplexing of unicast control signaling can also be accomplished by splitting a symbol of the multicast/broadcast TTI into two shorter symbols with the first of these two shorter symbols carrying at least unicast control signaling and the second of these shorter symbols carrying multicast/broadcast signaling.

The receiver also comprises suppression circuitry, for suppressing the interference effects. The receiver also comprises circuitry for receiving signals from the suppression circuitry and for providing estimates of a group of bits. The receiver also comprises error detection circuitry for detecting an error in a packet that comprises the group of bits. Lastly, the receiver also comprises circuitry for requesting the transmitter to transmit a retransmission of a packet in response to detecting the error.

The invention defines the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) symbols in which muting occurs.
