    • The present invention is directed to a method of forming a positive image in a photothermographic assembly comprising a photothermographic material and an intensifying means for converting ionizing radiation, wherein the assembly has been imagewise exposed to ionizing radiation to form a latent image in the photothermographic material. The photothermographic material has at least one imaging layer comprising a potentially negative-working emulsion, wherein thermal development of unexposed silver salts in exposed areas relative to unexposed areas is inhibiting when thermally developing the imagewise exposed assembly, thereby producing a positive image. The present invention is also directed to a photothermographic assembly that can be used in the present process in which a positive image characterized by high speed and discrimination is formed when exposed and thermally heated above 150° C.

    • A method for correcting for exposure in a digital image which was captured by an image capture device and which is to be printed on a printer which forms monochrome or color images, on a medium, includes providing a plurality of exposure and tone scale correcting nonlinear transforms, each such nonlinear transform being unique to an exposure condition and which corrects exposure and tone scale for a digital image captured by the capture device for such unique exposure conditions and to be printed by the printer; and selecting the appropriate nonlinear transform from the plurality of nonlinear transforms and using such selected transform to transform the digital image and produce a new digital image which is corrected for exposure and tone scale when printed from the printer.

    • A method which substantially maintains the exposure latitude contained in one or more digital images captured in linear form and which uses an output device with a predetermined aim curve for producing visual images from such digital image includes the steps of selecting a particular reference portion of the scene corresponding to the digital image and adjusting the code value of such reference portion to a code value corresponding to a desired density and which corresponds to a point on the aim curve and changing the remaining code values of the digital image based upon the selected code value of the point on the aim curve so that a new digital image in linear form is produced; transforming the new digital image to form a third digital image which has code values based on the aim curve; and producing visual images by the output device in response to the transformed third digital image.
