    • A power supply device in a camera system having an accessory arranged to be mountable and dismountable on and from a camera body which includes a power source. The camera body includes an electronic circuit arranged to communicate with the accessory by a first connection terminal arranged to permit a first power supply to the accessory, a second connection terminal arranged to permit a second power supply to the accessory, a third connection terminal arranged to permit communication with the accessory, and a detector for detecting mounting of the accessory on the camera body. The accessory includes a motor drive for the camera; an electronic circuit arranged to communicate with the camera body; a first connection terminal arranged to be connected to the first connection terminal on the camera body side to connect said first power supply to the electronic circuit of the accessory; and a second connection terminal arranged to be connected to the second connection terminal of the camera body to connect the second power supply to the motor. The first and second connection terminals are set in positions which correspond to the positions of the first and second connection terminals of the camera body and deviate from each other almost perpendicularly with respect to a direction in which the accessory is to be moved in mounting it on the camera body.

    • A camera comprises an exposure meter having a pointer deflected to a position dependent upon the brightness level of an object to be photographed, a scanning mechanism actuated by a camera release to scan the position of the deflected pointer with the scanning result being introduced to a lens aperture mechanism, an automatic focus adjusting device actuated by the camera release to control the focusing of an objective lens in accordance with a photoelectrically sensed distance from the camera to the object, and a control mechanism. Since the photoelectric elements in measuring the object distance have a relatively long time lag, the control mechanism functions upon actuation of the camera release to defer the actuation of the scanning mechanism and the autofocusing device, pending completion of the detection of the object distance. In this manner, an exposure setting accurately corresponding to the prevailing lighting conditions is obtained. When the light value is too low to assure the satisfactory operation of the automatic focus adjusting device, the camera may be switched to the flash mode where the objective lens and the aperture mechanism are automatically set in a pan-focus condition in response to actuation of the camera release.

    • The disclosed apparatus determines optically whether an object is located within a first range of distances from the apparatus or a second range of distances from the apparatus. A radiation projecting arrangement projects a beam towards the object and a receiving arrangement disposed a predetermined distance transverse to the object direction receives the radiation reflected from the object. A pair of radiation sensors in the receiving arrangement each produce an electrical output corresponding to the received radiation. A circuit responds to the outputs of the sensors to determine whether the object is located within a first range or a second range. The circuit arrangement connects the radiation sensors so as to subtract their outputs, and one of the sensors is provided with a more extensive radiation receiving area than the other. This extends one of the range of distances.

    • An optical accessory includes a bayonet mount attachable to a camera body side mount and accessory side connection terminals which contact the camera body side connecting terminals when the accessory side bayonet mount is attached to the camera body side bayonet mount. The accessory side connecting terminals have their end portions arranged to project in the direction of the optical axis behind the accessory side bayonet mount. In one preferred embodiment, the optical accessory further includes a member having a projection projecting in the direction of the optical axis behind the accessory side connecting terminals. The projection is positioned on the inner circumference side of the accessory side connecting terminals and is arranged near to the accessory side connection terminals. In another preferred embodiment, the end portions of the connecting terminals have plural height differences, and a contact seat also is provided for holding the accessory side connecting terminals. The contact seat has its rear side surface in the direction of the optical axis located at substantially the same height as the accessory side connecting terminals. The contact seat is fixed by a fastener in a radial direction relative to an inner circumference surface of the accessory side bayonet mount.
