    • This invention provides a booklet making method including a cutting size setting step of setting a cutting size on the basis of a difference amount between a layout position of an image when a layout interval between images printed on a printing medium is minimum and a layout position of an image when the layout interval between images is maximum; an image printing step of adjusting the layout interval between the images printed on the printing medium in accordance with a position of the printing medium upon binding, and printing an image on the printing medium; a binding step of binding a plurality of printing media bearing images to prepare a printing medium bundle; a folding step of folding the printing medium in half; and a cutting step of cutting an edge of the printing medium bundle on the basis of the cutting size.

The image forming apparatus with a left time informing function, has: a storage for storing data of various types of basic operation time for forming an image, therein; and a status management section for calculating and informing left time required for completing forming the image on the basis of the data stored in the storage, when a condition of forming the image is determined; wherein the basic operation time include print time corresponding to a single-sided mode and a double-sided mode, respectively, for every size of a transfer sheet, and interprocessing time for every postprocessing.

    • An apparatus for forming an image on a recording sheet comprises a jam data holder storing a predetermined number of jam occurrence data arranged in time sequence, whereby when the jam data holder receives the newest jam occurrence data, the jam data holder adds the newest jam occurrence data into the predetermined number of jam occurrence data and eliminates the oldest jam occurrence data from the predetermined number of jam occurrence data; a calculator for calculating jam occurrence frequency when the jam data holder receives the newest jam occurrence data, wherein the calculator references the jam occurrence data from the predetermined number of jam occurrence data stored in the jam data holder, calculates a number N of jam occurrences, the total sheet number T1 when the oldest jam occurrence was detected and the total sheet number T2 when the newest jam occurrence was detected and calculates a jam occurrence frequency based on the difference between the total sheet number T2 and the total sheet number T1 and the number N of jam occurrence; and a signal generator to output a jam frequently-occurring signal when the number of jam occurrence is larger than a first predetermined number and the jam occurrence frequency is larger than a second predetermined number.
