摘要： An electric fence monitoring unit and an integrated energizer/monitoring unit with remote control and communication capability using GSM based cellular technology, and a method for the use thereof, is provided. A simple set of commands can be used and sent, such as through text messaging (SMS) or a smartphone application, to control and/or receive information from the monitoring unit including alerts sent to the user in the case of faults or changes in fence loading. The monitoring unit includes a safety mode that uses time dependent voltage detection to detect when a sudden and significant drop in fence voltage has occurred, as may result when an animal becomes trapped or entangled in the fence. When such a large and rapid voltage drop is detected and the safety mode is enabled, the unit automatically de-energizes the electric fence and an alert is sent to the user advising that the fence should be looked at without delay.

摘要： An outrigger for supporting an elongate electrical conductor from a support. The outrigger has a first elongate limb 11 and a second elongate limb 12. An elongate electric conductor 13 is suspended from a first support device 14 located at a distal end 15 of the first limb 11. In use, the second limb 12 is attached by a first connector 16 to a length portion of an elongate element 18 so that the second limb 12 is rotatable about an axis that is parallel to a longitudinal axis of the elongate element 18. The first limb 11 is connected to the second limb 12 by a second connector 24. The first limb 11 is rotatable relative to the second limb 12 about a pivot axis of the second connector 24. A restrictor 36 limits rotation of the first limb with respect to the second limb about the pivot axis.

摘要： An electric fence insulator is formed as a flexible band of material with an opening along a lateral periphery. The band is flexed to position around the perimeter of a fence post along a length of the fence post as determined by the length of the insulator. The insulator provides electrical insulation between an electrically energized fence wire and a point of contact of the wire with a grounded fence post. The insulator includes a fastener at the opening to close to a secure position using a simple clipping motion after the insulating band is positioned on the fence post at a selected height. The insulator forms a minimal lever arm between the fence post and the energized wire. The insulator may be retrofitted to existing installations with fence wire already installed without a need to access the fence post from the top to the section requiring electrical insulation.
