摘要： A sampling system for an individual to self-collect sample form mucous tissue is disclosed here. The collecting device has a flexible shaft having a handle at one end, and a sample collecting element removably connectable with the other end of the shaft and operable to collect a cell sample from mucous tissue of an individual. The collecting element includes an RFID tag for tracking the device and the sample once it is collected onto the collecting element. The system includes a sealable unit to store the sample collecting element having a cell sample thereon.

摘要： We disclose a medical toilet that comprises one or more medical devices and a control for the metrics they collect. The medical devices may be used to collect metrics relevant to a user's health status. The medical toilet further comprises a conduit through which volatile organic compounds travel from the toilet bowl to the environment outside the toilet. An animal trained to identify the scent of bodily waste collected from a user that is afflicted with a disease perceives the scent of the user's bodily waste traveling through the conduit and performs a defined act upon perceiving the disease scent. The metric collected by the medical device(s) may be used to diagnose the same disease as that which the animal is trained to identify. The diagnosis provided by the animal by way of the conduit acts as a control for the metric collected by the medical device.

摘要： The invention provides devices and methods for self-administered noninvasive retrieval of biological materials of the uterus and/or cervix. The cervical device comprises a receptacle with a variable volume receptacle cavity, a controller configured to change the volume of the receptacle cavity, a surface for collection of biological materials, and a flexible pouch for generation of suction to facilitate efficient retrieval of biological materials. The biological materials retrieved include various biomarkers of diseases and disorders of reproduction, are directly isolated from a site of pathology, and are not metabolized or diluted. Information generated by analyzing these biological materials permits early diagnosis and prognosis assessments of disease and disorders of the female reproductive organs, irregularities of pregnancy, anomalies of the fetus in utero, and microbial infections.

摘要： A medical kit for analysis of vaginal biological samples includes a sample collector, an extractor, and an assay cartridge. The sample collector is compressible and insertable in a vaginal canal for collecting biological samples, and includes a cup-shaped head configured to cradle a cervical os. The extractor includes a sample receptacle configured to receive the sample collector via an open end. The extractor includes a compression mechanism with a compression element that is movable inwards into the open end of the sample receptacle to apply a compression force in response to activation of a release element. The extractor further includes a reservoir in fluid communication with the sample receptacle, the reservoir receiving the biological samples from the sample collector in response to the compression force being applied within the sample receptacle. The assay cartridge has a docking mechanism configured to fluidly communicate with the reservoir of the extractor.

摘要： A tampon assembly includes a flexible and relatively thin impermeable portion having two opposite side faces and an outer edge which is oval in shape so that the oval shape of the impermeable portion has a largest dimension as measured through the center of the impermeable portion and a smallest dimension as measured through the center of the impermeable portion, and the largest dimension is at least about 1.5 times the size of the smallest dimension. The assembly further includes an absorbent pad portion which is secured to one side face of the impermeable portion so that when the assembly is positioned within a user, the absorbent pad portion is positioned in a condition for absorbing fluids and the outer edge of the impermeable portion sealingly engages the walls of the vaginal canal.
