    • A railway circuit for detecting the free or occupied state of the same and for sending signalling information along a railway line to a vehicle travelling along said railway line. A signal generator generates a signal with varying current modulated with FSK technique on a basis of a modulation code. The signal is supplied to a coil magnetically coupled with first and second rails that constitute the single railway circuit to induce a variable current modulated by the code on the electric circuit formed by the portions of the first and second rail short-circuited alternatively by the electric joint. The vehicle is provided with a current sensor suitable for detecting the variable current for extraction of the code and sending the signal to the driver. A signal generator generates a signal in compliance with new safety requirements to determine, with the receiver, the free/occupied state of the railway circuit.

    • A track circuit for railway systems or the like includes a track segment of predetermined length electrically insulated from an adjacent track segment by an electric joint, which includes a conductor and forms two loops arranged in a longitudinal S-shape within the space between the rails. Units are provided that transmit and receive electric signals and that are operatively coupled with the electric joints. The transmitting/receiving units include a unit transmitting and receiving a high-frequency signal to detect a train on the a track segment, and a unit transmitting and receiving a low-frequency signal which provides the carrier encoded with information to be transmitted to a train-based receiving unit. Units are further provided that enable/disable the high-frequency signal transmitting/receiving units, and units that enable/disable the low-frequency signal transmitting/receiving units, which are alternately actuated. The electric joint includes an internal impedance disposed between the two loops.

    • An overlay track circuit is used to transmit information through a block of railroad tracks. In one embodiment, one of a plurality of codes assigned to a receiver/transmitter pair are used to represent each information segment (which may be one or more bits) of an information signal. In another embodiment, bits of the information signal are transmitted between periodic repetitions of a code associated with the transmitter/receiver pair. The modulation may be performed using a frequency shift key technique. Track circuits may be connected to relay information between adjacent blocks of track.

    • A train detection system includes transmitters receivers connected to a track circuit for transmitting and receiving a train detecting signal to and from the track circuit, and a control device on the ground, which transmits the train detecting signal to the transmitter and receives the train detection signal from the receiver. The transmitter adds a first unique code data to the train detecting signal received from the control device and transmits the same to the track circuit, and the receiver adds a second unique code data to the train detecting signal being added of the first unique code data received from the track circuit and transmits the same to the control device. The control device on the ground includes a storage portion and a collating portion which collates whether the first and second unique code data received from the receiver coincide with data stored in advance in the storage portion.
