    • The invention describes a manufacturing device (1) and a method for bending blanks (4) or workpieces (5), having a bending press (2) and having a manipulator (3), which can be displaced in a raceway parallel to a longitudinal extent of a table and bending beam (10, 14), for workpiece transfer between a feeding or removal apparatus for the blanks (4) or the workpieces (5) and a forming region between bending tools (21). The manipulator (3) has an articulated-arm arrangement (33) having preferably three arms (34, 35, 36) which can be pivoted via pivoting bearing arrangements (37) about pivot axes (39) which are oriented parallel to the raceway, and said manipulator has a rotary unit (41), having a rotational axis (42) which extends perpendicularly with respect to the pivot axes (39), at one distal end of the articulated-arm arrangement (33). At least one detection device (50) which has a communications link to the control and monitoring device (25) is arranged on the articulated-arm arrangement (33), for a physical value which brings about a state change of an arm (34, 35, 36) of the articulated-arm arrangement (33) upon loading.

    • Apparatus and method for automatically adjusting a rate at which a document decelerates when entering a sort pocket of a document processing machine. The apparatus includes a track adapted for transporting the document, a guide wall, and a stacker flag spaced away from the guide wall to define the sort pocket therebetween. The sort pocket communicates with the track so that the document exits the track to enter the sort pocket. A wave spring is disposed proximate the guide wall so that the document engages the wave spring and is decelerated by the wave spring when the document enters the sort pocket. The weight of the document is calculated, and a signal is produced that represents the weight of the document. The wave spring is distorted according to this signal to vary a configuration of the wave spring depending on the weight of the document to decelerate the document at an optimal rate.

In a power loom, in particular a jet, rapier or gripper shuttle loom, a tension sensor for sensing the tension of the weft yarn can be switched during insertion between its sensing position and a passive position in which it does not touch the weft yarn. Preferably, the tension sensor is integrated in the insertion brake or even forms the braking element itself.

    • A high-speed precision winder for winding a running yarn onto a package tube to form a cross yarn package, including a spindle for rotating the tube about a spindle axis, a yarn traversing mechanism for guiding running yarn received along an infeed path back and forth across a traverse zone, a bail roll disposed in rolling contact with the peripheral surface of the yarn package being wound, apparatus for controlling tension of the infeed yarn, and a control system for continuously regulating operation of the winder during formation of the package. The control system includes three separate variable speed drive motors and respective associated motor control circuits forming a spindle drive, a traversing means drive, and a down pressure drive providing three independent motor systems which are separately controllable. A load cell structure is associated with the bail roll and output signals from the load cell and predetermined set processing condition data applied to a microprocessor provide control signals to activate the motors to control the relative positions of the bail roll and package tube and regulate the spindle drive and traversing mechanism drive to maintain a desired yarn density and tension throughout winding of the package.
