摘要： A meandering correction apparatus includes a transport mechanism, an orientation measurement part, a Young's modulus calculation part, a meandering prediction part and a meandering correction part. The transport mechanism transports an elongated strip-shaped base material in a longitudinal direction thereof along a transport path. The orientation measurement part measures fiber orientations of the base material in respective measurement regions on the transport path, the measurement regions being different in widthwise position from each other. The Young's modulus calculation part calculates Young's moduli of the base material for the respective measurement regions, based on the fiber orientations. The meandering prediction part predicts subsequent meandering of the base material, based on the Young's moduli, to output meandering prediction information. The meandering correction part corrects the widthwise position of the base material, based on the meandering prediction information. The meandering correction is made based on the fiber orientations of the base material. Thus, the widthwise position of the base material is corrected without depending on only edge sensors.

摘要： A system for reducing tension fluctuations in a web while printing multiple copies of a print job on the web comprises a printing system with a print station disposed opposite a first side of the web and one or more rollers adapted to receive tension control commands, the tension control commands operating on the first rollers to control the amount of tension in the web. A sensor is used to measure tension changes produced during the printing of the first copy of the print job. A processor is used to determine first tension control adjustments based on the measured tension changes and to use the adjustments to adjust the tension control commands to the rollers in the printing system to change the tension in the web when printing a second copy of the print job, thereby reducing tension fluctuations in the web.

摘要： A yarn supply apparatus for elastic yarns in knitting machines having abruptly fluctuating yarn consumption. A yarn wheel, around which the yarn to be supplied is wrapped, furnishes the yarn to a yarn store located between a knitting station and the yarn wheel. A closed-loop controller responsive to yarn tension operates the yarn wheel via a low-inertia drive motor. The yarn store is embodied as an essentially straight segment of yarn in the yarn path in which yarn is guided so it can expand freely. The combination of a low-inertia drive motor, a yarn store that utilizes the intrinsic elasticity of the yarn, and a closed-loop controller that monitors the yarn tension by means of a sensor device makes it possible to use the yarn supply apparatus for supplying elastic yarns and to keep the yarn tension essentially constant even when the demand for yarn fluctuates abruptly.
