摘要： A method of preparing nanostructured zinc oxide layers on a substrate by chemical spray pyrolysis at moderate deposition temperatures from 350.degree. C. to 600.degree. C. is disclosed. An aqueous or aqueous alcoholic solution comprising zinc chloride or zinc acetate as precursors is prepared and sprayed onto the preheated substrate so that the precursor reacts to form zinc oxide layer on the substrate. Thiourea or urea may be also added to the solution. Glass, silicon, or metal oxide covered glass can be used as the substrate.

The unit for forming a mixture are adjusted to mix to the mixture a liquid carrier substance, which is not a precursor of the surface reaction, and the boiling point of which in the defined process space is lower than the boiling point of the precursor of the surface reaction. The proposed arrangement improves both speed and quality of the coating process.

The invention also relates to the layers that can be produced using the method of the invention and to the use thereof.

An example approach includes providing a liquid precursor including QDs dispersed in a liquid carrier, generating a mist of droplets of the liquid precursor, directing the droplets towards the substrate so as to form a liquid precursor film on the substrate, and removing the liquid carrier from the liquid precursor film to form the quantum dot layer on the substrate. Example devices include multi-color QD-LED (light emitting diode) displays, and other devices.

摘要： A compound film for an active layer of a photovoltaic device may be formed in two or more sub-layers. A first sub-layer having a first component of the active layer may be formed on a substrate with a first process. A second sub-layer including a second component of the active layer may then be formed using a second process such that the first sub-layer is disposed between the second sub-layer and the substrate. The second component has a different chemical composition than the first component. The first and/or second sub-layer may comprise one or more components in the form of particles and/or globules. This procedure may be repeated any number of times for any number of sub-layers so that active layer can be built up sequentially. The different chemical compositions of the components in the sub-layers can provide the active layer with a graded bandgap. The components of the sub-layers may include elements of group IB, and/or group IIIA. One or more elements of group VIA can be incorporated into the components of the sub-layers before, during or after formation of the layers.

摘要： The present invention relates to a method of making nanoparticulates in a flame reactor, the nanoparticulates having controlled properties such as weight average particle size, composition and morphology. The nanoparticulates made with the method of present invention may be tailored to a specific weight average particle size range, such as from about 1 nm to about 500 nm. In addition to weight average particle size, the nanoparticulates made with the method of the present invention may include a variety of materials including metals, ceramics, organic materials, and combinations thereof. Moreover, the method of the present invention allows control over the morphology of the nanoparticulates, which allows the production of nanoparticulates with any desired morphology including spheroidal and unagglomerated; and agglomerated (aggregated) into larger units of hard aggregates.

摘要： In one aspect, the process includes providing a precursor medium comprising a liquid vehicle and a precursor to a component, and flame spraying the precursor medium under conditions effective to form a population of nanoparticles, wherein the nanoparticles include the component. The population of nanoparticles, as formed, comprises less than about 5 percent by volume particles having a particle size greater than 1.0 μm. A size distribution of the population of nanoparticles may have a d50 value less than about 500 nm, and it may be unimodal. The size distribution may have a geometric standard deviation of less than about 2. The process may occur continuously for at least four hours or more. Greater than about 90 percent by weight of the precursor to the component in the precursor medium may be converted to the component in the nanoparticles. The process typically occurs in an enclosed flame spray reactor.
