摘要： A nonwoven fabric laminate embodying the principles of the present invention is configured as a multi-layer construct of a plurality of melt-extrusion layers, including at least one, and preferably a pair of outer spunbond layers, and a central, melt-blown barrier layer juxtaposed to the outer spunbond layers. At least one fo the layers, preferably the melt-blown layer, comprises a barrier-enhancing melt additive compound having a fluoroalcohol with a non-derivatized additive such as a fatty acid, more preferably a derivatized perfluoroalcohol with a non-derivatized additive, with a stearic ester of perfluoroalcohol in a hydrogenated tallow amide additive being presently preferred.

摘要： The present invention is directed to surface functionalized fabrics, particularly those based on non-woven polypropylene, wherein the functional groups are capable of binding antimicrobial agents through ionic conjugation to control their release and prolong their antimicrobial activity. The invention also deals with Nylon 6 fabric that is complexed with iodine to control its release and to achieve prolonged antimicrobial activities. Similarly, polypropylene and cellulosic fabrics grafted with N-vinylpyrrolidone are disclosed. The N-vinylpyrrolidone can also complex with iodine to control its release and provide antimicrobial activity over desired periods of time.

The composition exhibits good antistatic and repellency characteristics.

摘要： A low melting, high solids spin finish composition is provided that can be readily applied to synthetic fibers during the fiber-making process. The spin finish solids, which make up at least about 70% by weight of the spin finish composition, comprise nonionic hydrocarbon surfactant components, such as polyoxyalkylenes, which have a value of from about 2 to 13 and a melting point within the range of about 25.degree. C. to about 140.degree. C. In some embodiments, the spin finish composition also includes select fluorochemicals.

摘要： Novel flame retardant finishes comprising a water soluble quaternary phosphonium salt, a water soluble organic nitrogen containing compound, a halophthalate diol, water, and either an organic solvent characterized by having a flash point of at least 80.degree. F. and a boiling point within the range of about 300.degree. to about 350.degree. F. and an emulsifier having a hydrophile lipophile balance value of from about 10 to about 14 or an emulsifying agent which is capable of passing the following three tests: (1) Solubility (Compatability) Test: said emulsifying agent (20 parts by weight) must be soluble in 80 parts by weight of said phosphate ester at less than or equal to 80.degree. C.; (2) Shelf Life Test: a blend of said emulsifying agent and said phosphate ester prepared as in the Solubility Test must remain in one clear homogeneous phase at 22.degree. C. for at least one hour; (3) Finish Formulation Test: a flame retardant finish within the scope of this invention is prepared and must remain in one homogeneous phase for a minimum of one hour at 20.degree. C. These flame retardant finishes are excellent for flame retarding textile materials including polyester/cotton blend fabrics.
