    • A vacuum pump (10) suitable for mounting at a lower region of an engine such as in the oil sump of an engine.     • The invention provides a device for generating high pressure air. The device comprises a block having an external surface and an internal surface, said internal surface defining an internal cavity in said block. A rotor located inside said cavity is capable of rotating about under the influence of wind energy. The block is capable of moving relative to the rotor in a direction orthogonal to the axis of rotation of the rotor so as to vary the position of the rotor within the cavity. A plurality of vanes extend from the rotor, and are coupled to the rotor in such a manner that, in every position that the block is capable of adopting relative to the rotor, the rotor is capable of rotating within the cavity while maintaining a seal between each vane and the internal surface of the block. There is a gas inlet channel and a gas outlet channel on an opposite side of the block to the gas inlet channel. The device also comprises a position controller for causing the block to move relative to the rotor so as to vary the position of the rotor within the cavity.

    • To enhance evacuation of a storage bag having a one-way valve element and to reduce noise during evacuation, a handheld evacuation device includes one or more gaskets that can be made of resilient material. A gasket can be disposed about the rim of an inlet opening of the evacuation device to provide both a leak-free interface between the evacuation device and the storage bag and to reduce vibration and chatter of the evacuation device against a rigid support surface. A gasket can also be provided intermediately between a main body portion of the evacuation device and a nozzle portion that is to be placed adjacent to the storage bag during use. The intermediate gasket isolates vibrations in the main body portion thereby reducing vibrations and chatter of the evacuation device against a rigid support surface.

    • A compressor includes a compression mechanism for suctioning gas through a suction path to compress the gas and discharging the compressed gas and a check valve for preventing backward-flow of the gas in the suction path. The check valve includes an accommodation hole (its one end is opened toward the suction path and its another end is functioned as a reservoir), a valving element accommodated within the accommodation hole movably, a valve seat provided at the opened end of the accommodation hole for closing the suction path while the valving element is pressed thereonto and an urging component for urging the valving element toward the valve seat. A release groove is grooved on an inner surface of the accommodation hole. The reservoir is communicated with the suction path through the release groove. The compressor can reduce machining cost, component count and weight in respect to the check valve.
