    • A turbo type centrifugal pump is provided in which an angular oscillator is angularly oscillated so that fluid in a radial through hole receives centrifugal force. The angular oscillator is used in combination with a resonance oscillation motor that generates angular oscillation. The resonance oscillation motor is incorporated in the pump so that the pump structure and the drive mechanism are integrated. This reduces the size of the pump. Since the angular oscillation is a reciprocating rotation within an oscillation range less than 360°, a suction pipe can be connected to the radial through hole used in the angular oscillation. This eliminates the necessity for providing a shielding structure.

    • A nutating drive comprising a housing with a rotor mounted for axial rotation in the housing and an elongated nutating bar retained at one end thereof in a rotary bearing which is connected to the rotor via a drive coupling at a position offset from the rotor axis for imparting nutational movement to the bar about a geometric center of nutation with axial rotation of the rotor. The drive coupling which connects the nutating bar bearing to the rotor is comprised of a flexible sheet support having outer edges secured to the rotor which permits limited pivotal movement of the bar bearing relative to the rotor. This flexible sheet support may be provided in the form of a single flexible disk or as multiple flexible support strips. In either case, support is provided with at least one undulation extending in the radial direction to enhance pivotal flexibility.

    • A nutating drive with hermetic seal which includes a housing with an internal wall and a nutating bar passing through an opening in the wall. A flexible tubular diaphragm seal surrounds the bar and is sealed at one end to the wall about the wall opening and is sealed at its other end to the bar for providing a hermetic seal for the wall opening. A universal joint support mechanism connects the bar to the housing for gimbaled non-axial rotational support of the bar in the housing. An axially rotatable rotor is mounted for axial rotation in the housing and the bar is pivotally connected at one end to the rotor at a position offset from the rotor axis for imparting nutational movement to the gimbaled bar about a geometric center of nutation with axial rotation of the rotor. The tubular diaphragm has a conical configuration tapered from a maximum diameter at the wall and to a minimal diameter at the bar end and the tubular seal encloses the geometric center of the bar. The tubular diaphragm seal may have a bellows configuration. A torsion tube which is very flexible in torsion is coaxially received over the bar with one end of the flexible torsion tube circumferentially sealed and secured to the bar and the other end of the torsion tube circumferentially sealed and secured to the minimal diameter end of the tubular diaphragm seal.

    • A precessional centrifugal pump of the type adapted to deliver liquid while rotating it with an impeller that makes a precessional movement. The pump includes an annular space provided in a conical casing and an impeller arranged in the annular space in such a manner as to be able to run therein. The impeller includes of a head and a rod that extends through the opening of the casing at the apex thereof. The pump further includes a flow guide wall protruding from the center of the circular end face of the casing into the annular space and inwardly defining the annular space, an inlet way formed within the flow guide wall, and an outlet which extends tangentially from the annular space. The inlet way is open in a spiral manner from the head section of the flow guide wall over the entire length thereof.
