摘要： A low dissipation, low distortion amplifier includes a driver amplifier stage and a main output stage, with a plurality of impedance networks providing, among other things, feedback paths from outputs of the driver and main output stages to the input of the driver stage. The impedance networks also provide coupling paths from the outputs of the driver and main output stages to the load. The impedance networks can all be formed of resistors, capacitors, or network combinations thereof. An additional feedback path can be added from the load to the driver stage to flatten out the frequency response at low frequencies. The driver and main output stages may be operated in Class AB and B modes respectively, and/or in Class G or H modes. An intermediate amplifier driver stage may be added between the driver and main output stages.

In some aspects a radio frequency (RF) signal is amplified via a circuit having a first transistor configured to source current to an output of the circuit and a second transistor configured to sink current from the output of the circuit, and another signal is provided, without active circuitry, from the output of the circuit to a gate of the first transistor effective to bias a voltage at the output of the circuit. By so doing, the output of the circuit can be biased without active circuitry which can reduce design complexity of and substrate area consumed by the circuit.

摘要： A system and method of improving the power efficiency of a receiver for low duty cycle applications. In one aspect, the receiver includes a low noise amplifier (LNA) that is capable of being enabled in a relatively quick fashion so as to amplify an incoming signal when needed, and then being disabled to set the LNA in a low power consumption mode. In particular, the LNA includes a pair of complimentary devices, and an enable circuit adapted to quickly cause the complimentary devices to conduct substantially the same current. In another aspect, a bias voltage generating apparatus is provided that uses a residual voltage from a prior operation to establish the current bias voltage for the LNA. In particular, the apparatus includes a controller adapted to tune an adjustable capacitor to a capacitance based on a residual voltage applied to a fixed capacitor, and couple the capacitors together to establish the bias voltage.

摘要： A variable gain amplifier (VGA) circuit and an automatic gain control (AGC) method thereof are disclosed. The VGA circuit includes an amplifier circuit and an AGC circuit. The amplifier circuit amplifies an input signal to an output signal according to a predetermined gain and the AGC circuit is connected to the amplifier circuit for regulating the predetermined gain. The AGC circuit further includes a peak detector detecting a peak of the output signal, a replica of the peak detector for detecting a peak of a reference signal, and a comparator for comparing the peak of the output signal with the peak of the reference signal to provide a control signal and then providing the control signal to the amplifier circuit to regulate the predetermined gain.
