摘要： A data communication method in which input digital data is received and encoded into an encoded waveform having zero crossings representative of the input digital data. The encoding includes generating the encoded waveform based upon a continuous piecewise function having sinusoidal components. The continuous piecewise function may be used in generating a plurality of symbol waveforms, each of which occupies a period of the encoded waveform and represents bits of the input digital data. The plurality of symbol waveforms are defined so that a value of a phase offset used in the continuous piecewise function is different for each of the plurality of symbol waveforms, thereby resulting in each symbol waveform having a different zero crossing. An encoded analog waveform is generated from a representation of the encoded waveform and transmitted to a receiver.

摘要： A signal specification identification apparatus includes processing circuitry that estimates the transmission rate of a received signal, performs sampling frequency conversion on the received signal, calculates a probability corresponding to each of a plurality of candidates for a specification of the received signal, selects a candidate using the respective probabilities, and calculates reliability corresponding to a selected candidate, determines whether to output the selected candidate as an identification result or perform the sampling frequency conversion again, based on the reliability, and changes a parameter indicating the ratio of the sampling frequency conversion when it is determined that the sampling frequency conversion is to be performed again. Processing is repeated until the processing circuitry determines that the selected candidate as the identification result is to be output.

摘要： Systems and methods for quantum key distribution using orbital angular momentum (OAM)-modes-enabled secure multidimensional coded modulation. The quantum key distribution including symbols of a raw key across subcarriers and multiplexing the subcarriers to form an electrical carrier. Then optically modulating the electrical carrier with an electro-optical modulator using an optical signal. The optically modulated electrical carrier is then imposed on a pre-determined OAM mode using an optical OAM multiplexer, attenuated, and transmitted across a quantum channel. A receiver then receives the transmitted signal and demultiplexes it with an optical OAM demultiplexer to extract projections. The projections then undergo optical-to-electrical conversion using a coherent optical detector with an optical signal from a local oscillator. A resulting estimated electrical carrier is then demultiplexed into subcarriers. The subcarrier undergo phase noise cancellation and subsequent demodulation to extract estimated symbol constellation points corresponding the symbols of the raw key.

摘要： Embodiments are provided for guard band utilization for synchronous and asynchronous communications in wireless networks. A user equipment (UE) or a network component transmits symbols on data bands assigned for primary communications. The data bands are separated by a guard band having smaller bandwidth than the data bands. The UE or network component further modulates symbols for secondary communications with a spectrally contained wave form, which has a smaller bandwidth than the guard band. The spectrally contained wave form is achieved with orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) modulation or with joint OFDM and Offset Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (OQAM) modulation. The modulated symbols for the secondary communications are transmitted within the guard band.

摘要： In one embodiment, a device (e.g., a transmitter) determines a level of error protection of each bit position within symbols of a particular constellation map used for modulation-based communication, and also determines priority levels of application data bits to be placed into a communication frame. Application data bits may then be placed into symbols of the communication frame, where higher priority application data bits are placed into bit positions with greater or equal levels of protection than bit positions into which lower priority application data bits are placed. The communication frame may then be transmitted to one or more receivers with an indication of how to decode the placement of the application data bits within the symbols. In another embodiment, the particular constellation map may be dynamically selected from a plurality of available constellation maps, such as based on communication channel conditions and/or applications generating the data.
