摘要： A system and method provide a la carte reproduction services wherein a printing system is capable of performing multiple operational printing modes, but is configured, in a normal operational printing state, to perform a subset of the multiple operational printing modes. The printing system includes a user interface to enable a user to select an operational printing mode. The printing system, in response to a user selecting an operational printing mode not included in subset of the multiple operational printing modes, communicates with a printer service provider server to request authorization to perform the user selected operational printing mode. The printer service provider server requests predetermined information from the printing system, and, upon processing and verification of information received from the printing system, configures the printing system to perform the selected operational printing mode.

摘要： A picture transmission/reception system includes: an information supply apparatus that supplies, sequentially in time, combined information including picture information and counterpart-picture location information representative of a location of counterpart-picture information that is information about a picture related to the same subject-of-display but different in processability attribute from the picture information; and a picture receiver apparatus that has a receiving part that receives the combined information supplied by the information supply apparatus, a picture-display processor that displays, sequentially in time, picture information included in the combined information received at the receiving part, and a counterpart-picture-data acquirer that analyzes counterpart-picture location information corresponding to a picture selected by a user out of pictures displayed by the picture-display processor and accesses a location of the counterpart-picture in a data storage apparatus that stores the counterpart-picture represented by the counterpart-picture location information, to thereby acquire one of counterpart-picture data related to the one piece of picture information. The counterpart-picture-data acquirer of the picture receiver apparatus is configured to detect a processability attribute as to the acquired one of counterpart-picture data, and evaluate whether or not the detected processability attribute is suited for a predetermined use by the user and related to a highest or comparatively higher quality acquirable. When a result of evaluation is negative, a retrieval processing is made to retrieve for another one of counterpart-picture data having a processability attribute for a comparatively higher quality while, when the result of evaluation is affirmative, the picture data evaluated is outputted.

摘要： A printing system including printing equipment in which, even if the equipment are interconnected through an interface pursuant to the IEEE 1394 standard, the printing image may be set to effect printing. There is provided a CPU 23 for generating the printing control information containing the text printing image information indicating the picture processing contents for the text at the time of printing and the picture printing image information indicating the processing contents for a picture at the time of printing. There is also provided a data conversion unit 13 which manages control so that picture data and the printing control information will be contained in a packet consistent with the IEEE 1394 standard and sent as output to a printer device 5, and so that the picture data contained in the packet sent as output to the printer device 5 will be printed in accordance with the printing control information. When packets are transmitted/received between the equipment interconnected through the IEEE 1394 interface to print the picture data, the picture processing consistent with the text printing image information and the picture printing image information is performed on the picture data on the side printer device 5 to print the text or the picture.
